Walter Giardino + Ronnie Romero UK dates

This is the only one I can see so far, but I'm sure there'll be more.

The Ferry, Glasgow - 15th November - "A Tribute to Rainbow and Deep Purple"

Yawn.......

A Blackmore replicant...............

And a Generic Metal Singer who sings with the current version of Rainbow .........
is now out playing as a Rainbow Tribute show............... gotta be mental stuff!

Why would anyone anywhere pay to see that?
Especially after the Real Rainbow didn't exactly blow the Glasgow audience away anyway!!

These whippersnappers are only starting the pension pot BSB and they will need to tour until they're 67 or something crazy.

or the alternative version - I need a job and some income (food on the table) and instead of cleaning windows/working at Burger King or whatever, I'll do my job - playing music.

Not all musicians are blessed with superstardom - look at the fringe players we all know of and have discussed at length Doogie White, Graham Bonnet, JLT etc. They are all scratching a living together. There are thousands of them...

Who wants to (or is capable of) work(ing) with a regular job after tramping the stages.

So in the end: so what - good luck to the guy trying to do his thing.

To coin a well know phrase: Beggars can't be choosers. I suggest that if he had had a better choice he would have done that instead... ?

What would you do: starve? Not pay the bills... go and live with your parents etc.??

I suggest we need to be less idealistic - this is life.

The days of superstars are over -at least in rock. I like Ronnie and have no problem with him doing this kind of thing. I think it's good that he gets more experience.

Yes very true indeed and of course I appreciate they need to earn a living, of course they do, but as a current member of the current Rainbow, going out as a Rainbow Tribute show seems incongruous, well to me anyway.

If they were a Dio tribute then maybe I'd understand it better somehow. Of course DIO himself will return soon as we know, but as a hologram, .... another Music BUSINESS nightmare scenario. They can't even leave the guy in peace even after he's dead.

However, each to their own. Personally I wouldn't want to see this Giardino/Romero show, but others may well do.

I did, and it was excellent! I'm maybe too easily pleased, but it was a really tight band with an outstanding singer and guitarist playing music I love. I don't care about the motives for doing it, it was really enjoyable. The original material was very good.. In a Blackmore/neoclassical syle but not too much "widdling"

Well, is it okay for a current Rainbow singer to perform a Rainbow tribute act? It feels strange but these are different times, the music business has changed. I guess you have to take any job you're offered to saty on the surface. Romero is a fine singer, also popular among Queen fans for his many freddie Mercury tributes. I think he should go for it and take any job that can give him more experience and allow him to reach new listeners. Why not? It's for the sake of the music, isn't it?

Of course he has to make a living and is lucky to do that in music. Is it all "for the sake of the music". Maybe once upon a time. Mostly now it's all about $$$. Everybody has to make them so why not have some fun doing it

RR is a good singer and his current Rainbow experience and exposure won't do him any harm, of course if he develops a big ego and wants more cash....... Ritchie will probably dump him...... quicktime.

As for Walter, he seems like he is a really good player, but...........
the "magic" definitely isn't there, certainly not on the strength of those clips, it's generic metal stuff. It's probably the camera phone but sounds like a wasp in a jar tone wise. I'm sure it was better in the flesh, maybe?!
