Re:

Be interesting to see if DC has any demo's we've not heard before. I've heard a fair few over the years & a quick wander on You Tube will spot many of them.

of the Night

So pleased DC had Murray and Dunbar doing the bass/drum leg work on this album. They come out even more on the demo's & I do prefer the sound on the demo's (and slide it in)to the final 1987 album. That said, it should be a fine release and I'll happily pay DC for this release! Fair play to DC. Hope he does the same for Slip of the Tongue where we has teased us with Vai-less demo's for years now!

Re: Big re-release of 1987...

I was looking at the tracklist for the dvd. The 2 live tracks are Crying In the Rain and SOTT. I reckon it must be this footage:

If it is the same footage, I wonder if they've found the first half of Crying In The Rain?

Also, the online blurb states that "The fourth and final CD includes newly remixed versions of the four singles (Still of the Night, Is This Love, Give Me All Your Love and Here I Go Again 87) and includes radio mixes from the era and four versions of tracks that were unique to Japanese EP 87 Versions". Does anyone on here own the Japanese EP and if so, are the versions of Looking for Love and You're Gonna Break My Heart again actually different to the album versions?

The Japanese version says "Unreleased" regarding these two tracks, because they were not on the original album. The European versions are just a little bit louder.

It sounds like 3 versions spliced together. The first part, where just the chorus is repeated a few times, is clearly a transfer from a rudimentary cassette recording, then it sounds like we have a recording from a different source when the drums first come in. And then, towards the end, the drum sound changes to something sounding a little more polished. Perhaps this is what is meant by 'evolution' versions- we get to hear how the song progressed from very basic demo onward?

Interesting to listen to, but not one to add for regular listening! The demo for Is this Love also still has the 'sad affair' ending, so along with hobo to drifter on HiGA then they were tinkering all the time. Which given how long it took to get to release was not a surprise!

this Love? Demo

Oh,no! I'm really dissapointed.
I was thinking and hoping the evolutions disc would be the well known working versions I really like + other tracks we haven't heard yet. That had sense, but [sign in to see URL] don't know...,,just another said affair'' with these reissues. Such a shame!
