Mary Long wasn't done rarely, but at many (probably all) shows from January to March 1973 instead of Child In Time. Considering the time from 1984, you're right: Mary Long and Blind Man weren't played because Ritchie vetoed them.

However, if you want to do a fair comparison between the years with and without Blackmore, I think it's not reasonable to compare those few years from 1984 to 1993 with the JLT interruption to the endless time from 1994 to 2017.

you should count one off or brief airing of songs in other case (like Back To Back or Bodyline which were done just on couple of dates - SM era case).

I can't do that because my knowledge about what they played without Blackmore is very limited. I just know that they played the classics much more often than the recent stuff.

quote:

I dont care about how many songs with Ritchie werent done

Yeah, your lack of knowledge shows that. emoticon

Finally, this topic wasn't brought up by me. My point was the question about the musical contribution, and the fact that many songs which Ritchie helped writing (to say it in a defensive way) were played more often without him than with him shows that his ex-mates rate his work even more than he does himself. You're not a Blackmore fan, but your idols are. emoticon

You mean, having not been played with Blackmore since 1984, and then having been played without him? What's the edge of such a narrow view? Why ignore DP's heydays? To get a longer list of "you didn't play that"-songs to accuse Blackmore?

Silly.

Please - look what you wrote before (sorry - edit, it wasnt you but leelyt, my mistake!) and consider "how many times" and how often after particular tour or brief airing... I mean if you count one-off or brief airing of songs in one case (RB´s era case), you should count one off or brief airing of songs in other case (like Back To Back or Bodyline which were done just on couple of dates - SM era case). I dont care about how many songs with Ritchie werent done, I´m happy that many of great songs from that period got deserved airing in live show finally (songs like my beloved Pictures Of Home or When A Blind Man Cries, Fools, Bloodsucker, ...) - they were overseen before.

Have to admit i did like what SM did with tracks like Fools,POH,NOC and MIAL, and it was great to hear those tracks live.
If indeed Ritchie hadn't left and you hadn't become a DP fan, then this forum would lose about 80% of its posts emoticon
For me though as I've stated many times a band without both Jon and Ritchie CANT call itself Deep Purple at least not spiritually .A band without those two is no more DP than Whitesnake were in the early years, or Rainbow were in the JLT years.

Ptr certainly adds some colour to the threads emoticon

Re: I have a feeling DP r going to reunite with RB

People probably wont miss me much but sometimes(sometimes it takes more than many months)I do get the idea of visiting this board and see what I missed.

It took me a long time(which I will never get back)crawling my way through this thread.

The forum is almost solely a never ending back and forth between LITB and PTR.

Its tiresome, repeating.
Even worse....
I never expected 40 years ago when I first heard Deep Purple I d visit as a grownup a forum , unfortunately more forums show the same traits, where I am amazed by the childish stuff people write in comments.

Like they dont have a life.

I m not sure if that Blabbermouth interview is completely authentic or true.
But it sure depressed the hell out of me.

OMFG, what a prick.

I agree with your last comment
but as far as it being simply a back and forth between ptr and myself? i think you'll find that there are a lot more posters than myself who argue with ptr.
Why? because he has a completely polarising attitude towards a band that people like myself have followed since LONG before he was even born!!

Don't go, stay with us, it will all be worth it I promise.

Yes, IG does come across as a bit unnecessary doesn't he?

I tend to agree on most of what you say, also regarding the PTR issue.
But what I can't understand is how you muster the drive to keep going with him.
I recognise the frustration and bewilderment dealing with persons like that, but I dont have the energy in me to do that like you do.

But BOTH of you seem to never get enough of each other.

It would appearantly be filled with a lot of empy spaces without you guys.
Isnt that sad to realise?

Ian Gillan once patronised someone(I m afraid that dealt with fans complaining about something)by saying : "I always do what I like. Dont you? "

He had a point which made me think.
Apart from all his evident lying he sometimes had that effect on me.

Ptr is mostly harmless, as long as you understand he says what he does to get a reaction. He is a troll, and I say that with no malice whatsoever before PurpleAdmin2 gets his threatening stick out again. He makes comments knowing that hey will ge a reaction, and in fairness if he didn't what would be discussed on this site?
The current tour is being ignored on this site I assume because of the negative reviews it is receiving in the US, the setlist never changing.
If nothing else at least ptr is keeping some people interested in the site, and maybe even the band.

For me, ptr isn't a troll. He's a no-compromise Gillan loyalist. He is a fan of Gillan like others are fans of Elvis. "Everything my hero does is divine." His ignorance towards certain aspects of DP's history may be confusing (or for those who take this forum too seriously, even frightening), but for me that has nothing to do with trolling.

Re: I have a feeling DP r going to reunite with RB

THS and later on DPAS were the sites to go.
No forum on DPAS as I recall.
THS blocked the flow of discussions with moderating.
This forum i somehow found years later.
I missed out on the DP hub, I think.

Also already heard many negative reviews on the USA leg of the tour.

Anything can happen.
maybe they ll regain "something" within a few months, who knows?

I cant get motivated to buy DP tickets since 2006 anymore.
Saw 10 shows with SM, had enough.

Also missed out on thye "Rainbowshows".
Way back I would regularly pull out all stops for a show abroad but , my age probably, in recent years I find it hard to get motivated to do so again.

Maybe I ll regret it one day, dunno.
