Rainbow Tokyo 84 - 'The End' Bootleg without guitar effect...

I’ve heard that on this bootleg the guitar is without the awful octave effect (apart from on Difficult to cure of course), backing up Cookie’s (RB Tech) assertion that it must have been added afterwards.

I’m currently trying to download from guitar101 and will report back, looking forward to hearing the show as was heard by the audience.

others presumably have heard this already, any comments?

Download not worked so far, i find them annoying, seem to be running but then you get an error message along the likes of ‘failed to upload no data’.

Will re visit later, however put on SK from I think Final Vinyl on way to work, and this doesn’t seem to have the effect on. ditto, Miss Mistreated, from memory anyhow. Everything from I Surrender onwards certainly did though.

I came across the night before (Budokan 13th April 1984) on 2xcd this morning.

reasonable sound, lively audience, absolutely no octaver in sight so far!

Stone cold I note is added in the encores. if memory serves it's just a verse or two however.

I’ve now heard the final show without that awful effect, and wow….his playing sounds amazing! Somehow sounded lazy as well as bad with it on, now comes across as precise and attacking.

I’ve no way of sharing at this point, but will ask the provider whether he can share his original.

Interesting. Does the tape have a specific name?
Wonder how they've been able to do that.

its the original audience bootleg. The effect was clearly added afterwards. Blues, sounds completely different with the original signal!

The name of the bootleg is ‘The end’, available in guitar101 and other such sites, if you can download successfully!
It’s interesting that on the final vinyl CD Spotlight Kid and I believe MM, do not have the effect added, but on the dvd they do.
All versions appear to have it on from I Surrender onwards, alas.

And of course if it (the effect) was added afterwards, it suggests that there was/is an original tape with the original (dry) guitar signal available.

I think it is a great gig - but spoiled by the effect. It would be wonderful to hear it "unspoilt".
