Just one question: are we sure the REAL Paul McCartney is the REAL Paul McCartney?;-)

Anyway, to stay on the topic: I usually buy tickets at a record shop I have been going to for ages. They have a list of concerts for the full year constantly updated for you to check. Over the last 2-3 years, that list includes the most sophisticated gigs by tribute bands, which sell for quite substantial prices, even if not as high as the originals - but these days, there are, say, Pink Floyd tributes playing halls with 3-4K capacity and asking fees of 20-40 Euros...

Brit Floyd, coming friday, are playing at an arena where I have recently seen both Sting and Pet Shop Boys.

Pet Shop Boys on request of my woman.. emoticon

It´s going to be slightly OT but not really. There is "Elvis" In Concert tour in Europe planned for next May. EP´s voice from tape, singing from video screen, his music performed with orchestra - years ago they used to perform with his original superb TCB band from 70s, they are not performing anymore sadly, so they were "replaced" by orchestra. I was stunned to see ticket prices for Prague "concert" - range of ticket prices are nearly THE SAME as ticket prices for REAL concert of REAL Paul McCartney from June 16. Something is definately wrong!

I saw the Elvis show in a large arena in Bangkok maybe 10-11 years ago and it was fantastic. This was with his original band and was really worth seeing. I was not aware that the band had been replaced by an orchestra and of course the prices for any “concert” in the UK are outrageous so not a chance of going to the Dio charade.
As a side note we also saw at this arena Eric Clapton (most boring concert I have ever seen) Christina Aguilera and The Black eyes Peas (my wife wanted to see all of these shows), and the Elvis “show” was by far the best. So if done well the hologram show can work, though whether Dio has the stature to draw any crowds to such an event is another question.

I do believe it must have been good. Through those band members (guitar legend James Burton, Ronnie Tutt, Glen D. Hardin, Jerry Scheff) there was a connection to real band from 70s.... This connection with this tour is completely missing - only Priscilla is going to introduce the show and say something about their life with EP. Who the hell cares about her? But truth is that this is actually her project, it´s her (terrible) idea how to milk some more money from EP´s name and music. They recently rleased two compilation albums where original "backing" music was replaced by orchestra, If I Can Dream was the first album and now there is second one which is called The Wonder Of You. For many of fans, it´s simply heretical idea, EP actually mainly self-produced his own music, he had exact vision how his music should sound and simply replaced it by orchestra without any connection to Elvis´ own vision is heresy.

That "Elvis The Concert" shows which you attended, I would go immediately to that particular show just to see those guys on stage (Ronnie, Jerry, James, Glen D. plus some of his his choir members) - you cant get closer to Elvis gig, but this stuff which has absolutely NO connection to original shape of songs and which is just money grabbing machine? Big NO.

And the same big NO goes to this hologram tour.

Yes, it was an excellent show. Didn't know anything about this Priscilla driven thing, wont bother with that.

And I cant imagine that there will be a market for a Dio hologram tour.

course its not we all know Paul died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a look/sound alike from Liverpool. emoticon

As far as a Dio hologram show then why not?If it lets his music and voice continue to be heard and entertain people then i don't see the harm in [sign in to see URL] all were not going to be dragged by gunpoint to the show i.e. we don't need to go if we don't want to!!

My concern is about the artistic [sign in to see URL] about the will of the artist in the [sign in to see URL] the future, there could be a MKII reunion, which no-one of the members really wanted, or there could be duets that do not make any sense, between people that hate each [sign in to see URL] is a bit like taking a book written by someone, re-shuffling all the words to compose a new one, and then pretend it's from the same [sign in to see URL] guess artists have one more thing to care and consider in their will.

I've liked the last two Elvis orchestra albums so I would definitely go see that if it came here. I saw the Elvis Live! with the TCB band and that was amazing (as was that band both then and in the 70's).

But this hologram business just feels different to [sign in to see URL].
