True. They should play for their dedicated fans and for noone else. Where's the point of playing for people who wonder why Blackmore has changed his hair colour?

Concert performed during daylight is half of experience (that´s why I prefer indoor gigs to outdoor gigs), band is limited in their timespan which is usually at max 90 mins and festival gigs has weaker atmosphere - connection between stage and audience is weaker - one of factor is large distance between stage and audience.

Maybe, but that's not the reason why I think that DP shouldn't do festivals. They should leave that to young ambitious bands who still have something to achieve.

No they are not and never were... I´m not fan of DP´s Cal Jam performance as you probably know, it´s a bit overhyped performance due to size of audience. emoticon

what is it exactly that puts you off the cal jam performance

[sign in to see URL] Paices blistering performance?
[sign in to see URL] Lords AWESOME display of keyboard brilliance
[sign in to see URL] Blackmores clear demonstration that he was at the time the greatest rock guitarist on the planet??

Now if you state that it was GHs annoying Stevie Wonder impressions then i can accept that emoticon

Instrumentally DP have NEVER been better than the MK3 era Blackmore Lord and Paice were at the absolute peak of their powers back then.

Then one would be better to do away with all festivals using that logic??
Any festivals i have been at then it appears that the majority of the crowd are there to see the headline acts, but that does not take away from enjoying the other acts on the bill if they are any good.
BTW does anyone who knows rock music(which is after the crowd who attends rock festivals) actually still think that Blackmore is in DP??

For example, AC/DC is a wonderful band for festivals. Everyone knows them, they make music suitable for big areas.

It wouldn't surprise me. If someone is a fan of, let's say, Bon Jovi, he won't necessarily care for DP's line-up changes.

There's a world outside DP, and in this world DP aren't as big as they are inside the DP world.

Re: Arte Tv - Deep Purple beim Hellfest 2017.

Here in the States, most concert attendees realize Blackmore is no longer in Purple and are pretty much unconcerned. Ever since the reunion, most U.S. fans seem to care more for Gillan's membership than Ritchie's.

The point? To introduce them to some quality music for a change. Got it? emoticon

That´s your opinion... To me, Cal Jam is simply extremely dirty performance, so dirty that it´s a bit too much for me. Rarely listen to that performance. BTW havent I already mentioned that I have never been fan of 25 or 30 mins Space Trucking or Mandrake Root or whatever? emoticon Plus considering my dislike of some particular songs on Burn - they were part of this show to - Lay Down Stay Down (which is IMO personified rock cliche crap) and You Fool No One (which must be the most overrated DP track ever). So... no I´ve never been fan of Cal Jam and never will be. emoticon
