Is it because the people who run the HOF are old men who haven't bought any new albums for the last 30 years?

It comes down to the difference between the majestic, groundbreaking, inventive and charismatic instrumental trio of

BLACKMORE ,LORD AND PAICE

or the talented but rather dull replacement/substitute trio of

MORSE,AIREY and an old past his best IAN PAICE

No prizes for guessing who i prefer emoticon

There are many other reasons for that:
- many of that compilations are old, therefore cannot reflect Mk8
- and also - it´s usually about company policy which dont want to put recently released stuff on compilation albums

BTW newly announced compilation album contains NW?! stuff!

Plus I forgot to mention classic one... I dont know ANY band which Greatest Hits (aka the best known tracks) would contain the best songs band really ever done. Ask Queen fans about Greatest Hits compilations, ask Pink Floyd fans about greatest hits compilation, ask Rolling Stones fans about greatest hits compilation etc etc. Simply put "best known" doesnt mean "best"...

What Deep Purple classic songs are not included on the Platinum Collection?

But that includes 4 Morse-era tracks, so it's not an example of the "limited" collections I thought we were talking about.

(But anyway, the answer is Pictures of Home.)

Aaah, OK sorry for my misunderstanding.

As long as they don't pick Hell To Pay, it's a good choice. With the exception of that song, NW is by far the best Morse era album.

Oh dear ... otherwise I'd say it's a good choice of Morse era songs.
