As far as your ideas, In think "Gillan", "Glory Road" and "Furture Shock" are much better than "Born Again". "Magic" is worse. Instead of Joining Sabbath, IG should have rested his voice. Instead he gets drunk and signs with Sabbath.

Interesting. And if you compare Led Zeppelin's In Through The Out Door to the Coverdale / Page album, what's your result?

Or to ask it in a more general way: Is there a point at which this comparism stops being reasonable for you?

I love In Through The Out Door, don't understand the hate it gets.

It contains a couple of very mediocre tracks, in my opinion, but "Carouselambra" (my absolute favorite Zeppelin song) more than makes up for them.

There is a reason why Rod Evans is being inducted in the RRHOF and Steve Morse and Don Airey are not.

There is a reason why there are many Purple's "Greatest Hits" and "Best Of" compilations that includes Mark I songs and not any Mark VIII song.

I think Mark 1 beats Mark 8 and their three albums have stood the test of time and while the Mark 8 albums will go to oblivion in decade or two. My opinion only.

But those Mark 8 albums are much better than most releases today.

I doubt if any MK 8 album will last the next couple of decades, there is nothing memorable, magical or innovative on any of them.

Are we comparing the line-ups or albums?

Evans over today's Gillan
Lord over Airey
Glover by a smidge over Simper
Blackers over Morse
MKI Paice over IP now.

Musically, it depends if you like all the ballads, covers and the longer, drawn out pieces or today's shorter, tighter and pretty well written songs.

For me, I would take a mix of both.

Yeah, thats right, its a joke that Gillan is taking seriously, he risks friendship with David and Glenn and pissing off many fans because of this BS joke. emoticon

Randy's opnion is close to mine.
I cherish the first 3 albums.
If I do not go back once in a while listening Morse era albums I totally forget about them.
