Re: Sykes: No interest in ever talking to him again
take note Sykes, ha! of course, DC isn't perfect, with the 1987 situation I'm sure he felt JS was taking over, hence the outcome.

Re: Sykes: No interest in ever talking to him again
To my recollection Coverdale and Sykes never liked each other and the clash of personalities was doomed to explode sooner or later. The tension did create Whitesnake's highwater commercial peak ... but it was never, ever going to last considering DC was Sykes employer.
I can't even imagine piggybacking the success of that album what a tour between the tour would look like. I shudder to think. Imagine the kind of ego explosion that happened BEFORE the album was completed and then think about a tour. Surely chaos.

Isn't JS the reason why CP bowed out? I seem to remember a lot of tension there too.

I have heard (from someone who has worked with Sykes) that he is not easy.

Re:
Who cares. DC gave Sykes a name. Neither Thin Lizzy nor Tygers of Pan Tang did that for him.
Ok, so Sykes didn't get to tour with the 1987 band. Big deal. DC didn't screw him out of royalties. Also, Geffen was quick to sign Sykes for Blue Murder, which turned out to be a great album and tour. Sykes has put out some good albums since the first Blue Murder record, but that's all they are is good.
Whitesnake on the other hand, has continued without Sykes, and DC does not appear to be in any competition to try and match the success of the 87 album again. His work with Jimmy Page was quite good. Good to be Bad was also quite good, as was Restless Heart and the Purple album. He is happy with the way Whitesnake turned out. He even stated he would do another project with Sykes again outside of Whitesnake.
If Sykes doesn't want to talk to DC again, I'm sure no one is losing much sleep over it at this point.

Idk, Micky Moody isn't too keen to speak with DC again either...they seem to be the only hold-outs though (that i know of).
