Re:

IMO Clearly Quite Absurd is by far the worst Mk Morse ballad.... My order would be SIFLS, All The Time In The World (but I have to admit that I have very personal relationship to this one), Dont Make Me Happy, Haunted and this one. The issue actually isnt in Airey´s playing, it´s IMO the main musical motive (which is Steve´s guitar) which leads simply "nowhere" and is completely UNintersting - it´s repetitive.... and boring.

And if you consider All I Got Is You as ballad (I dont) - it´s getting on second position into this list.

Re: ptr I agree CQA doesn't go anywhere. It lacks real drama of SIFLS, which, by the way, is probably the best commercial song MkMorse ever wrote, but again, it wouldn't be as good without Lord's playing and his diverse choice of keyboard/Hammond sound.

That's how tastes differ...
I really love Clearly quite Absurd - just for the mood it conveys.
The instrumental passages fit in nicely and exactly support this mood.
It#s the only RotD tune I really like!

Right there with you! I may "like" a couple of other ROTD tunes, but not that much. CQA is the gem of the album.

I clearly like Clearly Quite Absurd! Airey sounds like Jon in the outro.
