Re: Re:

Incredibly difficult to nominate a top 5!

All I GotIs You - by a country mile and could have been an absolute classic if Airey hadn't butchered this track! 8/10 but a missed opportunity for a 10 and being up there with SIFLS & CQA...

Roadhouse blues - Sublime Purple; harmonica, bluesy, great keyboards, gritty guitar, Gillan's smokey [sign in to see URL] hang on a sec?, it's not original?, NOOOOO!!!!!

Time for Bedlam - better than most stuff of Now What..

One Night In Vegas
The Surprising

You meant Clearly Quite Absurd? It´s very boring uninspired one IMO.

We often disagree but you quite right here. It's a different kind of song, but sounds to me very boring, going nowhere

And I often have to agree with him, but here I disagree.
It's really one of my all time Deep Purple favorites: this special mood in this song, nice lyrics. Simply amazing and touching.

Re:

Interesting opinions on CQA. The song indeed has a lot of potential and yet somehow it fails to deliver the real goods. My feeling is that what is missed here is Jon Lord's playing. He was always the best in enriching the song, giving it the keyboard/Hammond backbone which was instantly recognizable as very Purplish. I miss it terribly and Don Airey - with all respect to his great musicianship - just doesn't seem to get it right.
