Sounds very soundboard-y to me. The way the drums are so audible (unfortunately).

Re: Birmingham on CD now

OK now after listening new Rainbow Live In Birmingham album I'm in deep shock of how amazing it is. Really, the set-list, the vibe, the band - everything is amazing here. WTF with all those critics, people? David Keith is just wonderful on drums, listen to his playing in Difficult To Cure or Stargazer or any of the songs. Bob Curiano is great on the bass, just love his lines in Catch The Rainbow. Jens Johansson is just phenomenal - really, his solo in DTC hits right in the stomach. Also great Lordish kind of tone in his playing. Ronnie Romero - OMG what a voice! If you think that this man could pull out Child in Time and Stargazer without any rest - this is just incredible! Great backing vocals (and for all the "experts" - yes, Rainbow had backing singers back in the 80's) from Candice Night and Christina Lynn S. And of course Ritchie Blackmore, the master of masters on the guitar, no words needed. Oh yeah, they had some little mistakes here and there, but if you will have a good listen at any of the live shows (especially bootlegs) from old DP/Rainbow they also had lots of mistakes - and that's great, that's rock'n'roll, they take a chance, it's not meant to be perfect.
So I would say this - F**K THE HATERS, and GOOD LUCK to the band on the upcoming tour!

Its not the haters you need worry about it's the idiot fan-boy "EXPECTATIONALISTS", the ones who expected Blackmore to be like he was in 1975 etc etc They are the ones who become the haters as you put it.

There were a lot of them saying how bad the drums were, the bass was, the vocal was, Blackmore was. In fact the band were very good and Blackmore was very appropriate in his playing given his age, his injury, his drunkness!! Overall the shows were fine, appropriate but they would never live up to the stupid expectations, nobody could do that!

It's not about expectations, it's about delivering a professional show. If you can't do it properly, don't do it all. Or simply ask fans to wire money directly.

Don't tell RB what to do. He does what pleases him. If you don't enjoy it, just find something else to do. Simple as that.

But how is the sound? Still soundboard quality or properly produced?

Edit: I just listened... it's the soundboard recording. What a shame...

It's based on the soundboard recording, but some nice work has been done on it to breath more life into it. I think it sounds very good! You have to remember that it was never planned to release it, it wasn't recorded professionally like Stuttgart 93 or whatever.
