New Studio Album

I would say Whitesnake are making a full new studio album, judging from DCs twitter feed.

"Taking them Snakes out for an early…Working on a BIG track…one of them WS Epics…but, we need sustenance …Cheers!!"

"In ze studio. after great Italian food…Grazie! New track’s kick arse. Wishing You & Yours A Glorious Evening! emoticon"

"Working on two fab new [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] Reb & Joel jamming whilst I snuck away for 40 [sign in to see URL]...emoticon"

So, I would like to see a 40th anniversary studio album of new material packaged with an acoustic studio album of classics going right back to Trouble.

I would like to see a tour with the current band and nightly guest appearances from Bernie and Adrian, with some early material being played inc a full version of Ain't Gonna Cry No More.

Not much to ask is it????

I'm certainly happier that DC is writing (and hopefully recording) new material rather than doing a 30th anniversary '1987' themed tour. And if/when he does tour again, I'd like to see DC be a bit more imaginative with the set list. There's no reason why the current band couldn't do justice to the likes of Lovehunter, WITSOTB, and Take Me With You.

Beside Purple, there's an interview with David in the Sweden rock magasine:

If the google translator is corect, David speaks about Blackomere, Page and the future of Whitesnake. I wonder if he sais anything more specific about new album.

Re:

He's recently had both knees replaced and is spending 2017 writing for a new WS album due in 2018, which will be followed by touring. Says he's very pleased with the current line-up of WS and hopes to continue working with them.
Possibly a blues album in 2018/2019 featuring remakes of songs like Love Man and Walking in the Shadow of the Blues, with guests like Bernie etc.
He says he will end his career with WS as the vehicle and shoots down any hope for a follow-up to C/P, although still friendly with Page.

Re: New Studio Album

If the whole thing was with Bernie, then I'd be positive about it. However, my understanding is that the blues album would still feature Reb and Joel as the main guitarists with the likes of Bernie being 'guests'. And the idea of them re-doing old WS tracks is less than appealing to me.

Maybe it's the cynic in me but I honestly will be surprised if this blues album ever happens. DC has been talking about this and an acoustic album for years now yet he's still decided another WS album comes first. Don't get me wrong- I'd actually rather he was recording new material rather than rerecording old WS songs either in an acoustic or blues style. The point is that DC seems unwilling to step out of his comfort zone- which is the modern day WS- and therefore I have my doubts as to whether we'll ever see him do anything else

Whats wrong with Joel - he's a fine guitarist, very versatile and good songwriter
