Re: Bernie Marsden Book
I joined the pledge campaign quite late and I haven't received my book yet, but I've been told it's on it's way.

Re: Bernie Marsden Book
Last night I had a quick look at the book and found myself reading Bernie's account of why WS fell apart during the recording of Saints and Sinners. Even having read this, it's quite difficult to understand exactly what happened. Bernie still appears to be none the wiser about whether he quit or was fired!
The one thing that's not disputed is that the band needed to free itself from the management it had at that time and that this had a large part to play in the 'classic' line up breaking up- or being broken up. It's still not at all clear to me how DC 'had to' break the band up in order to free himself of his management (which is what he later told Bernie)- only to continue with WS, albeit with 3 new members (Galley, Hodgkinson, and Cozy). I'm not therefore following what would have prevented him continuing with the same line up.

Re: Bernie Marsden Book
Whitesnake ‘The fantastic voyage’ covers this quite well as I recall. The other key factor, not sure if Bernie speaks of this?, was that the band had lost its hunger after 3 years touring, 4 LPs etc, and things just weren’t gelling with S&S recording sessions. Moody disinterested in particular, IP and JL not major contributors to song writing anyhow. So DC was getting pretty fed up, plus with the financial situation and management issues everything came to a head.

Re: Bernie Marsden Book
Bernie mentions that during what must have been the final stages of the recording, Micky left ('personal stuff') and Neil had not been called upon for some time (not clear why this was). But the particular incident he talks about is IP and JL not turning up at the studio on 2 consecutive days when they were meant to- they'd gone to the races instead. This left DC and BM sitting in the studio twiddling their thumbs. Bernie says to DC- 'you know what, we may as well knock this on the head'. DC replies 'I'm glad you're not the only one feeling that way'. Bernie says he's always worried that he effectively signed his own resignation letter by saying that to DC. It sounds like he was just talking out of frustration at the time.
