completely agree.

it's like with Infinite released today, just enjoy it for what it is, simply amazing we still get music and performances of the quality and commitment in 2017, same with Ritchie. it won't last for much longer, then it's over. forever.

That's my opinion, too. Stop the hate, just enjoy the last few bits of the Purple, Rainbow and Blackmore ride. It won't last forever.

Yes I agree. I think, as you know the expectations were ridiculous on last years gigs, but they delivered in their own way and it was good stuff mostly. Perfect it wasn't but probably that added to the charm of it all.

That said I think all the window dressing in the world won't really cover up the obvious that Blackmore isn't really interested in his "fans" beyond the extent to which he can flog them whatever he is pedalling this time around. At this stage, who cares, he still delivers a good show, he still has quite a unique sound and he's still a great player and that's what counts.

The "single" he discusses here is just like last years shows...... test your market...... before you invest...... measure the results....... make an investment decision....make money! Blackmore is nothing if not a shrewd businessman, just as he always has been over the years!

just like any other rock star, and the way it's always been. artist first, of course. let's not overcomplicate matters. it's just music, let's enjoy it while we can. when DP reformed their motivation for doing so was of no interest to me whatsoever, good if they were doing it for money , providing they did it well.

Hi mates! I bought 3 tickets for the Rainbow show in O2 (London). Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the concert, and thus I was wondering if anyone was interested in buying these tickets (at the normal/official price). The seats are 286-288, row-w. block 110. If anyone is truly interested, feel to free to contact me.

BSB, Daniel - of course he does it for the money. Come on, he's a pro, it's quite literally his job!
Also, it's not like at 71 he can have a large deal with a major investing in him for the medium/long term, so he has to make sure that expensive productions such as the one we saw last year make sense economically and enough remains for him to make it worthwhile.
Having said that, I don' understand why that would mean he does not care a bit about the fans. If you take his statement: "I will continue to do these gigs as long as people buy tickets for them", there are only two logical alternatives: a) after these gigs it's over, no matter what, or b) I will continue for as long as I care, irrespective of people coming to see this or not.
In what way would these alternatives have been more respectful for fans?

True, well put.

I've seen a few bands at Bannermans (including JLT) and yes the stage is tiny. Uli has 6 members (including himself) in his band so it'll be interesting to see how they manage.

I agree Uli is an amazing player, definitely a favourite. If he has a 6 man band, they will never get into Bannermans, it's just a stupid venue to pick. It's bad for the band and bad for the fans. surely they could've managed something better than that sh1thole. The Caves just across the road, would be more like it, though sound in there isn't great either. You'd think someone would realise that stone walls and loud rock music, are not a good combination. Maybe someone should message Uli and give him the heads up about the stupid venue choice. Last time I saw Uli was in the Usher Hall, I d love to see him, but not in that sh1thole venue. The CatHouse is ok but Bannermans....... f*cking crazy stuff in my view !

Are you going to either of the Uli gigs this weekend? I'll be at the Cathouse for definite, and possibly Bannermans too.

I really like Uli's playing, he's just fantastic but I wouldn't go to Bannermans if you paid for my ticket, chauffer limo and offered me more money to attend as well. I think is a disgrace that Uli is even playing there. Its a ridiculous venue for anyone who has a unique and superb sound like Uli.

The cathouse I've played at before, so I think I'll pass on that one as well. Its a better venue, but still not really suitable for what would be an excellent gig, sound/tone wise. Last time I saw Uli was at the Usher Hall and his playing was just sublime and the sound was crystal clear and superb. Even Jack Bruce played that night, complete with his dirty-ol man mac looking like some flasher from the local park, great night though.

So nope I won't be there at either of them. Hopefully he will come back another time to a more suitable venue, like the Usher hall or the Playhouse rather than the small club circuit.

Apparently the week after the Uli gig there is a Scorpions tribute playing the Cathouse!
that should be a right laugh and seems like unfortunate scheduling to say the least really. I wonder how the guy pretending to be Uli is on guitar?!

I was at the Usher Hall gig as well and yes, he was brilliant that night. Realistically he is never going to play places the size of the UH or the Playhouse unless it's supporting or as part of a package tour. I'd rather grab the opportunity to see him, regardless of the venue, while he's still out there performing.

Scopyons concentrate on the post-Uli period mainly. I've heard they're very good.
