Perhaps because DanielB has been able to smell that unmistakable aroma, that whiff of something not quite consistent and so finds it sad that Blackmore is happy to come up with such a load of crap......again!!

It was only 10 minutes ago that the world of Medieval Music was the only one our tortured minstrel could ever inhabit and how the world of rock was lost to him etc etc etc, basically whatever bullshit was required to sell those CD's, concert tickets or whatever other sh1t with sugar they were pedalling.

perhaps danielb feeling that there is a certain credibility gap opening around our hero, that's now making the Grand Cayanon look small !!

I'd agree. His integrity is long gone now, this is just another pensions and twilight tour, crank out the old crap for more money than ever while you still can.

Blackmore will keep doing this ONLY for so long as the cash keeps rolling in the $$, the ££ etc. As soon as that stops he's not going to bother his backside about whether or not it's interesting for anyone, at that stage it won't be interesting for him. If anyone thinks he does this "for the fans", go outside and beat yourself till your sensible again, right now you're acting an idiot!! Blackmore care not tuppence for his fans, never has and never will. That's sad but true.

So I'd guess Daniel B has recognised all of that and correctly summed it up as sad.

My view, is that its not half as sad as the expectations placed on last years shows by some fans, that was truly sad.

despite some harsh wording, you are of course dead on emoticon dunno why someone would be surprised by all of this.

how much did he make last year on the 3 gigs and live release? Probably more than 2 years worth of BN touring / work...
I honestly didn't think he would do it again before 2016 (or rather 2015 when it was annouced), but if this can generate quite alot of money doing only a few shows, I'm not surprised that he'll do more.

once the tickets stopp selling, he's not going to bother doing any more.
personally, I hope the tickets continue to sell. Whatever his reason is, there were enough magical moments in 2016 that makes me want to come back.

for the record, I don't think his 1997-2016 period of not playing rock, "only" to resurrect Rainbow in 2016, is diminishing his credibility.

19 years in a hell of long time. People change their minds. So did Blackmore, regardless of what's his main motivation behind this move

Re: 14 weeks until Rainbow O2 Gig....

from burrn mag:

Burrn: We understand you were recording some material in the studio.

Ritchie: We were recording until yesterday in the studio at our home. We finished yesterday. We recorded some songs for Blackmore’s Night and 2 songs with the new singer for Rainbow.

On Ronnie Romero:

Ritchie: When I heard him, he seemed like the right guy to sing the Dio era songs of Rainbow. He is versatile, he can sing like Freddie Mercury or Ronnie James Dio or Graham Bonnet. The reason I did not ask Joe Lynn Turner is because I thought European fans wanted to hear the Dio lineup of Rainbow. I was very surprised that tickets sold out in 15 minutes. It was nice to know so many people wanted to hear Rainbow at this time.

Burrn: Is Ronnie Romero the new singer you mentioned earlier?

Ritchie: Yes, I wrote one new song, and also recorded one of the old ones. Ronnie, who is in Madrid now, added his vocals and sent it back. Rather than make an album, we may release as singles.

BSB, Daniel - of course he does it for the money. Come on, he's a pro, it's quite literally his job!
Also, it's not like at 71 he can have a large deal with a major investing in him for the medium/long term, so he has to make sure that expensive productions such as the one we saw last year make sense economically and enough remains for him to make it worthwhile.
Having said that, I don' understand why that would mean he does not care a bit about the fans. If you take his statement: "I will continue to do these gigs as long as people buy tickets for them", there are only two logical alternatives: a) after these gigs it's over, no matter what, or b) I will continue for as long as I care, irrespective of people coming to see this or not.
In what way would these alternatives have been more respectful for fans?
