Whitesnake 2017 Select Gigs? – Marsden/Moody/Murray line up....

Most of us would seem to welcome the idea of a Moody/Marsden reunion with DC, before its too late. Perhaps a select run of gigs with an 80s style line up. That won’t happen because of business concerns of course, but if it did what line up and set list would you like to see?

Personally, Marsden, Moody (he’ll do it if the money’s right!), Murray, Paice, Mark Stanway or Don Airey.

So right there you have almost the classic line up, and with lower keys and less demanding vocals, the following set might work, absolutely no 1987 material to be considered!

• Come on
• Sweet talker
• Walking in the shadow of the blues
• Ready and willing
• Don’t break my heart again
• Lonely days, lonely nights
• Crying in the rain (S&S Style!)
• Here I go again ....ditto
• Love Hunter
• Nighthawk Jam/solos
• Ain’t no love in the heart...
• Fool for your lovin

Encores

• Trouble
• Wine women and song
• Take me with you

perhaps 10 feature gigs, eg London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Germany and Scandanavia.

[sign in to see URL] glorious one!

But seriously, there’s no reason this couldn’t actually happen in some form or another. Ian Paice plays with DP tribute bands on occasion for instance, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind doing a few WS shows for old times sake!

SOTN in that way might be interesting but what i’m suggesting is a purely pre 84 set list. We’ve heard the likes of Love ain’t no stranger, Is this love etc to death over the last 13 [sign in to see URL] songs though they are.

Stranger things have happened. Seems like Moody would be the stumbling block. If he really wouldn't do it then Jim Kirkpatrick who plays with Bernie would be a great alternative. Stanway would be fine on keys or Adam Wakeman (Snakecharmer).

Come On
Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues
Ready An' Willing
Lonely Days, Lonely Nights
Ain't Gonna Cry No More
Victim Of Love
Lie Down
Crying In The Rain
Don't Break My Heart Again
Blindman
Love Hunter
Trouble
Ain't No Love
Til The Day I Die
Fool For Your Loving
Here I Go Again

Encores
Wine Women An' Song
Take Me With You

and Bloody Mary...

Two and a half hours will do fine emoticon

If Cov's voice needs to be rested then let Bernie do some vocals on a few numbers.

Moody could well be a stumbling block John, why i’m unsure. What did Coverdale do that was so awful? Tell not to play with his back to the audience on one occasion as far as i’m aware, in front of Lord [sign in to see URL]. he was even re invited back to the band for S&S, so it seems to me Micky is the unreasonable one. I see him, or used to anyhow, around Twickenham so will ask him next time.

2.5 hours....? DC will need a few breather’s hey!

Re: Whitesnake 2017 Select Gigs? – Marsden/Moody/Murray line up....

…I put Whitesnake on hold at the end of 1981, and Micky didn’t even bother coming to the meeting we had. He had a more important engagement – a darts match at the local pub.

Then, a couple of months later, I get a call from him saying, ‘Look, I’ve seen the error of my ways, can I come back?’ and I said, ‘Absolutely!’

Because, I had literally – I was starting a sold out UK tour in three weeks, and I didn’t have a band! I had Cozy – and that was it!

So, he came back in, but he really wasn’t invested or engaged in the writing process for the Slide It In album, as you can see on the writing credits. Then, when we were doing the actual album, you could see that he wasn’t having a good time. When his manager called me, and shared the same information, I said, ‘Well, you guys do what you want, I’m moving forward with this. And that was the end.

In fact, Tony, recently I reached out to Micky Moody through his manager – to shake his hand, but he feels there’s still too much water under the bridge, and presumably he would rather not shake my hand.

Shame Micky didn't play on Slide in tour. It would have been great. But he just didn't want a change. It's like he wanted to play Lovehunter solo for the rest of his life (he could have done it as Slow an' easy intro, for example. I'm sure David would have allowed him to do it).
On the other hand, I think David could have done more with Marsden and Galley. I'm sure a Marsden/Galley duo in Whitesnake, for instance, would have had potencial in the rest of 80's, even in [sign in to see URL] were more open-minded (See this:

Like the rest of you, I'd love for there to be a few dates with Micky, Bernie, and Neil. Obviously if Paicey would do it that would be great but I think he'll be on a pretty heavy touring schedule for the next couple of years once Purple's album comes out- and with his recent health problems I don't think he'll be looking for extra work. Perhaps a one-off though. Maybe they could track down Duck Dowle if Paicey couldn't do it!

[sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] he still in the business?!

Guess so, this could well be Purple’s swansong too OT, so IP would want to focus as you say. Wouldn’t necessarily hamper such a plan if Coverdale wished to pursue it. I don’t see it happening, unfortunately as he seems fixated on his US based Snake enterprise.
