Next Year's Tour

I came across some video footage on my phone from the Glasgow concert in 2011 and it dawned on me that this was the last 'proper' WS show I saw. By that, I mean a full WS set. The last 2 tours in the UK have been co-headlining arena tours with WS effectively second on the bill. With next year's tour theme being the 1987 album, I wonder if DC see these as big arena production shows, or whether he'll consider playing slightly smaller venues, akin to the tour in 2011. If it does turn out to be another co-headlining tour, does anyone have any ideas what bands of a similar ilk are due to tour next year that WS might potentially pair up with?

I hope he takes a year off, prepares some new product and comes back in 2018 for the 40th anniversary tour as a headliner with shows at the Hammersmith Odeon etc.

I still hope he will make a stripped blues album that could be a real showcase to his voice. Well, I know... but sometime sdreams come true emoticon

I agree with this. Some new material would be nice. And changing the direction if possible.

Re: Next Year's Tour

We know the live CD/DVD from the Purple Tour is being released next year and DC has already suggested there will be a new 'bells and whistles' version of the 1987 album to celebrate its 30 year anniversary. So, unless he's thinking of heading into the studio early next year I can't see there being any new studio material, which is a shame.

I got the impression last year that DC had already recorded acoustic versions of WS tracks (although I could be wrong) but if so, I doubt very much that this will be released until he does decide to put current WS to bed and do a stripped back tour to promote it.

And I wonder what happened to the deluxe expanded versions of Restless Heart and Into The Light which were promised a couple of years ago?
