You mean the "Time stand still" Rush new one? How do you like it? Is it just a good companion to the R40 live set, like a bonus feature?

finally got my blu ray today, the japanese version with the two extra bonus [sign in to see URL] sound is very good it seems - the picture quality varies a bit, especially the footage after dark in [sign in to see URL] overall still good

the close ups confirm what I thought on the day; Blackmore was drunk in Stuttgart. He seems more on in Loreley

going to enjoy the whole thing this weekend

Yeah, Time Stand Still is great and is DEFINITELY worth owning. The bonus footage alone is worth having, but as a stand alone documentary its incredible and works great along with R40.

I'd say he was a bit drunk at both! I'm hoping the videos of the 2 Jap bonus tracks will appear on YT at some stage.

probably. I'd say he's been drunk for the better part of the last decade emoticon

however - looks at the close ups from Loreley vs Stuttgart. Huge difference. At the latter it seems he has troubles keeping his eyes open.
Seems much more focused in Loreley. And I stand by that Loreley was the better gig

I respect that, and maybe you are right. now having viewed properly on dvd, its clear SK, Stargazer and CTR were better at Loreley. mistreated maybe too.

fair enough that Loreley was sloppy in some places, but I think the dvd speaks for itself.
Even though he was probably more tense, he was more focused in Loreley,

I hope more of the Loreley gig wil pop up on a release somewhere down the line. Still hoping for a "monsters of rock" compilation, as suggested by the leak (?) from the german production company prior to the first press release

I finally got it. Not as bad as I expected from all the online reviews. Highlights to me are Mistreated and Stargazer. Lowlights Perfect Strangers, CIT and Black Night. Maybe next time I'd suggest they play Rainbow songs with a few MKIII songs and maybe even something from MKI(It'd
be great to hear Why Didn't Rosemary or And the Address. Be nice if they cold record a new album! Anyway, this release is enjoyable.

Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night

Well! After weeks of positive/ negative reviews/ opinions of Mr. Blackmore's return to rock, I'd like to add my thoughts about the concerts that have started this ball rolling again. As a lifetime Purple/ Ritchie fan (I'm now approaching my 60th birthday) Having seen Purple in every incarnation since 1970, with all the highs and lows associated with what I feel has been the most interesting band ever that I have followed, my thoughts on Ritchie's return to rock were met with some scepticism! But what has followed has been a probably 50/50 split between lovers and haters. I didnt attend any of the gigs but now have the benefit of watching the blu ray and do you know what? Any negative reviews pale into insignificance with what is on offer from most bands these days and that includes the tribute band that is known as The Official Deep Purple!! Ritchie has slowed down, who doesn't in there 70th year? But do you what? Nobody has ever had his touch and feel and in his return to the rock arena certainly didn't disappoint. Let's not forget that he wrote all of these songs too, so to revisit them with a brilliant singer and capable band is testament to his talent and vision. Comments welcome!!!
