David Gilmour - 2016 Summer Tour

has anyone been to one of these shows? Concerned after reading some fan reviews from the European dates, he’s been playing eastern Europe I believe, now moving to Rome tonight, then the big one at Pompeii later in the week. The reviewers are pretty all in agreement that his playing has deteriorated quite a bit, fluffing notes, black strat out of tune etc. This is terrible to note, when i saw him on 2 different nights at London’s Albert Hall last September, there were no such concerns, though his voice was showing signs of wear and tear. Unsurprising at 70, playing material in the original keys. Ritchie not the only guy battling time! Just glad to have seen these 2 guys while still able to perform to an acceptable standard.

A friend went to the Rome show last night and said it was fantastic...he talked to a guy who went both nights and said last night was definitely better than Saturday. I saw the L.A. shows and thought they were fantastic. Yeah, his voice was rough in certain areas, especially on some of the older songs because like you said, he isn't transposing the keys. His playing however was spot on. Same friend is also seeing him in Verona...he flew over from NorCal for those shows. He wanted to go to Pompeii (along with everybody else) but all that were left were scalped tix and he just couldn't afford it.

Re:

I saw the show in Wroclav... and I can compare this first show of this leg with first show of the whole tour (in Pula). Actually overall I liked Pula a bit more (it was my 1st DG gig; Roman amphiteater vs. city square; 5 000 people vs. over 20 000), but both shows were stunning. Wroclav was broadcasted live, with brand new band (they were pretty nervous, it was obvious!), with orchestra, longer setlist (+ 2 songs; 2h 45 mins vs. 2h 30 mins), so setlist wise - Wroclav was a little bit more interesting (especially because of One Of These Days). About mistakes - I remember one really "obvious" one - David slightly messed up a guitar solo in Time, but hey - he´s human too! emoticon It was actually that type of mistake which seemed rather "cute" than awful. emoticon

A buddy of mine just left the Verona show about 45min ago and loved it. He saw DG in Rome last week and said the show only slightly differed (Astronomy Domine instead of Us & Them and also did One of These Days the night he went in Rome).
