Ritchie Blackmore's wife about the RHOF dilemma
When asked if she and Blackmore were proud that Deep Purple recently were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Night replied that the recognition was a "bittersweet" experience for Blackmore.
"We understood that the Hall of Fame wanted the current lineup of Deep Purple to perform at the event, and that's fine; (current Purple guitarist) Steve Morse is a great person and all," she said. "Although Ritchie doesn't need that kind of recognition from the Hall - Ritchie knows the special relationship he has with the fans is the most important thing - Ritchie said it was frustrating."
Much of that frustration stemmed from the absence of original Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord, who passed away in July 2012, Night said.
"Ritchie said, 'Jon Lord is no longer here,'" she said. "Ritchie said, 'It would have been nice if the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had inducted Deep Purple when Jon Lord was still with us.'"
When asked if Rainbow would perform any U.S. concert dates, Night sounded slightly optimistic.
"We will be doing more Blackmore's Night dates in the U.S. in August through October," she said. "With Rainbow, though, you never know. Anything is possible."

Re: Ritchie Blackmore's wife about the RHOF dilemma
Well, I guess it all depends on how the June shows will turn out. If the chemistry's there, I think Ritchie might decide to do a couple of more shows.
The interest is big, but since neither of German shows is sold-out I'm not sure if it's a good prognostic for US shows. Still, they could play one or two small venues. I doubt places like Madison Square Garden are within their reach.

Re: Ritchie Blackmore's wife about the RHOF dilemma
Personally i would rather see a British tour including Scotland
As for the HOF comments then she's being very diplomatic for some reason? It wasn't the HOF that insisted on the touring band, it was DP themselves .why bother with the diplomacy? It was after all the Blackmore camp that said Ritchie wasnt going because he was told his ex bandmates wouldn't play with him.Cant anybody just tell the bloody truth about this? we've had Glenn Hughes saying a DP member stopped him and DC from playing, but he won't name names.Cmon name and shame FFS!!!

She's being nice for some reason. Can't figure out the motivation. Maybe she wanted to take a higher road than Gillan. We all know that if Lord were still alive, Blackers would have been playing at the induction. It is what it is. Oy....

Re: Ritchie Blackmore's wife about the RHOF dilemma
Ritchie definitely has a point; they were nominated while Jon was still with us and they didn't get in although its a joke it took them that long to get on the ballot in the first place.
I honestly don't blame him one bit for not going. I do think its great how Cheap Trick asked Glenn and David up at least for their set.

Come on, LitB, we all know the truth. Blackmore refused to play with them on the Jon Lord memorial and he refused to do it now again. I don't blame him for that, it's his bloody right.

Actually none of us here know the truth friedhelm, to say otherwise is lies.
What we have been told in the media is that Ritchie decided not to go after the dp camp said they wouldn't play with him ,but instead wanted the touring band to play .They then changed that to say that Ritchie DC and Glenn were welcome to join the encore ,a promise which on the night they renaged on .Glenn claims a member of dp prevented him and DC from performing but won't name him .There was also the awkwardness of the question and answer session where Gillan's annoyance/embarrassment was obvious. You keep mentioning jons tribute ?but that has no relevance as its two completely different scenarios .The only truth we all know is that all camps have bullshitted the fans and that its actually pathetic that pensioners can behave like this ,but then when do rock stars ever grow up ?

Maybe it´s time for fans to "grow up" - to find out that ANY band has a right to decide whether they want to play with anyone (special guest, former member....) and under which conditions... You still presume that "RB wanted to play with them" - and therefore they HAD TO accept that offer - otherwise they are pathetic... They did not have to accept that Ritchie´s wish! They had full right to say "sorry, we dont want to play with you"...

And that little rant has what exactly to do with the fact that we have been fed utter bullshit from ALL camps involved?
What about a bit of honesty and clarity on the matter instead of the juvenille and false platitudes all parties are feeding us.This whole RRnHOF farce has left me dismayed and and totally pissed at guys i have admired for more years than i care to remember.

Me not. I lost a lot of respect for Ritchie Blackmore (as a human being not as a musician) long ago. And when I read today, that he wasn't in contact with his son for five years when the boy was five years old, I lost even more respect. How can a father be so cruel? And by the way LitB: It's still true that Ritchie refused to play with Deep Purple twice. We don't know the reasons behind that, but it stays the truth.
