Well, sometimes I think BCC sometimes sound like what MkIV Purple could have sounded, in a parallel universe, where they never disbanded. Of course, it's heresy, given the absence of Lord and Paice but still.

I think that's fair to say actually. What did you think of the other bands I mentioned and do you have any other suggestions or even suggestions of modern bands I might given my tastes emoticon ?

Several interesting names you brought up, for sure. In most of them I hear a neoclassical Rainbow influence more towards power/metal territory. I like it more when they don't lose the bluesy element that Purple and Blackmore always had. Ritchie could go from, say, Kill the king to Mistreated in five minutes or from Spotlight kid to Tearing out my heart effortlessly while younger bands clearly influenced by him are just going with A light in the black for the whole time.

I agree and in that regard, I think Avatarium is the closest (along with Opeth and Black Country Communion) to the spirit of Rainbow and Purple overall.

I wish that power metal bands sounded like A Light in the Black! I think the bands today sound more like bad versions of some of the later Dio band albums.

Do you have any other suggestions, even if they aren't necessarily like Rainbow or Purple for modern-ish rock bands?
