Paicey should have let Gillan continue to speak, but I think he knows the Gillan is getting mad. emoticon

Yes, Ian Gillan looked very uncomfortable in that video. When asked "but not to perform?" - he looked like: "!@#$, what now?" - so he just did a stupid "Yeaaah". I don't think that Gillan ever invited Ritchie to come up on stage with him to perform. He would never do that. Shows again that he's a liar. Roger and Paicey just put their heads down, like "We have nothing to do with that"... Really emberassing.

But basically - Gillan got what he wanted... To perform with the current line-up.

Some people may disagree with me, but I'm quite sure, that Glover, Paicey and also Morse and Airey wouldn't have had anything against a performance with Ritchie - nothing! It was just Gillan. Both Paicey and Glover gave interviews prior to the event where they said that everything is open and nobody knows what's going to happen. But it seems that Gillan always knew that he would never step on stage with Ritchie again.

And one more thing. Why should Ritchie Blackmore attend the HOF ceremony under these circumstances? To sit and watch DP playing the songs, that he came up with - and get up on stage at end for SOTW jam if Mr. Gillan allows it? Would you go? I think no!

That was the whole reason, and his wife Candice has also confirmed that on Twitter. Yes - Ritchie was planning to go - but he wasn't really welcome!! He would have loved to perform with the others, but he wasn't allowed to by Bruce Payne and Gillan, which is sad. Bruce Payne brought that message through to Ritchie. But I think that it came from Gillan.

Yeah, what did he have to gain, and as we know is probably nervous around such events anyhow. He’s ok when with his own audience and control of situations but this event could have been anything but had he attended.

True. We know that he's a very very shy person. He would have felt very uncomfortable there anyway.

If you just think Gillan didn't invite him, but don't know it: How can you call him a liar then?

I agree with all of this HF .DC said as much too in that he was aware that there were things going on and that Ritchie was not being made particularly welcome, so he invited Ritchie to sit with him .As you say though who would go under those circumstances? The rather embarrassed demeanour of both Rog and Paicey at the Q&A session spoke volumes [sign in to see URL] on all involved, Ritchie and his fans and indeed DPs fans deserved much [sign in to see URL] it did give some satisfaction to see Gillan and co squirming at the Q&A they must have been raging that all anyone wanted to know about was the main man himself Mr Ritchie Blackmore

Well according to RB himself - based on an interview last week, he held no gripe to Ian G or any of the band members. He again confirmed it was Payne. So Ian may in fact did reach out to RB.

My interpretation is that he has an axe to grind with Payne stemming from past lawsuits and business deals. We knew RB wasn't going to come, even with open invites from current and past members. RB used Payne's tone as a means to justify his no-showing (I recall IP saying in CHOHW video that RB can be the most simple man or the most [sign in to see URL] if there is a tone or saying with which RB doesn’t agree, he takes it personal and makes a big deal to the point where he goes on stage with a problem). Translation is that RB is a pretentious diva. Great player but diva nonetheless.

So all you guys bitching about IG need to look at the RB interview as factual. Cause he could have used it to take IG to town and he didn’t. For once I believe IG is telling the truth when he says he invited RB.

Interviewer: “DP have made the headlines again: On April 8th the band with all their members from different lineups are to be honoured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York. And just you who decisively formed the sound of this group don't want to come because the manager of the current lineup virtually forbade you to perform with the rest of the band. Will this trouble really never end?

RB: Well, I had signaled that I thought about coming to the ceremony. Then the band policy started again. I don' t put that on the current band now.

Interviewer: “You mean your former mates, singer Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice who continue with guitar player Steve Morse and keyboard player Don Airey.

RB: Yes, they had this line-up for years. What upset me was the reaction of manager Bruce Payne who simply said „no“: „No, you aren't allowed to play with them.“

Interviewer: The HOF chief tried to impart: All former members of the band would be invited and honoured and the current band would perform. You won't come though?

RB: No. Who the hell is this Bruce Payne to say „no“ to me? Then I'll stay home.

I'm not buying that [sign in to see URL] you seriously trying to tell me that Ian Gillan ,Roger Glover and Ian Paice had NOTHING to do with what Payne communicated to the Blackmore camp? You believe they had no say in whether Ritchie could play with them at the ceremony? That's naive at [sign in to see URL] is the same Ian Gillan who insisted on the touring band playing as the living breathing [sign in to see URL] demeanour of the guys at the Q&A spoke volumes .They made an arse of things plain and simple and were embarrassed .

I always thought managers always treat their golden goose and cash cow as "babies" or "royalties", maybe when they are starting or have no name managers becomes boss, but when they become stars, they "fire" or "sue" their managers.

Managers can be replaced, but there is only "one" Ian Gillan and only "one" Ian Paice.

I mean if the manager did something that Mariah Carey doesn't want or other stars you'll be fired. That's why managers becomes the fixers of problems. emoticon
