My favourite classic rock station compiled a list of all songs that were in their top 500 list at the end of the year.
In this list they took all songs that were in it in the period 2000-2015 and counted all results together.

2. Child In Time
17. Smoke On The Water
51. Highway Star
72. Lazy
156. Black Night
180. Burn
237. Woman From Tokyo
239. Perfect Strangers
323. Speed King
332. Fireball
378. Strange Kind Of Woman
806. Hush

So all the inducted line-ups are in it.
Not one of the others.

The answer is in your first sentence... "classic rock radio station". emoticon

Yeah the answer is MK Morse have influenced NOBODY!! Note all those tracks apart from PS were written in a 5 year period ,MK Morse as you love to point out have had over 20 years together and yet get a grand total of ZERO on that list. emoticon But of course as you also like to point out they are not about influencing people today or indeed in the last 20 years emoticon

Ranking of song popularity has NOTHING to do with quality of songs. It says absolutely NOTHING about that songs from that era are better or worse. It´s quite natural that "classic rock radio" based on music released between 60s and 80s will contain mainly 60s and 70s music! emoticon

Do you know for a fact that MK Morse mean NOTHING to the rock world? If I say that I think that MK Morse has released some truly GREAT songs, am I wrong? I rank Purpendicular as one of Purples best albums. Am I wrong? Got my point yet????

Just because your opinion differs from others doesen't make your opinions facts.

Please - name couple of huge rock bands from 60s or 70s (which started at that time) and continued through all those decades, which are influental (as you describe) after 25+ 30+ years of their careers.... Thanks. I actually dont know ANY band. ALL bands are influental only during brief period which means some sort of "dramatic change" for music business - you cannot make such an impact when you are not doing these dramatic changes due to fact, that your style of performance and playing is YOUR OWN - and you invented that style decades ago. emoticon

Correct! So why do you treat almost every subject on Blackmore/ Purple like it is?

The reason why Purpendicular isn't a groundbreaking record is that it was released in 1996. If that record was released at the same time as Machine Head it would've been a groundbreaking record much because of Steve Morse whos style would've been groundbreaking at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if Machine Head would've ended up in the shadow of Purpendicular. Who knows?

There hasn't been any groundbreaking records within the hardrock genre since the late '60s/ early to mid '70s, so to compare a record from 1996 to a record from the early '70s is pointless.

It's not rocket science......man emoticon

That´s precisely my point all the time.... Timing is crucial.
