Re: Will Don Airey and Steve Morse be embarrassed at HOF?

The Hall of Fame is ridiculous.

Not only did they avoid saluting Deep Purple's entire history, but they included MKI w/o Nick Simper. Oy vey.

Why MKIII (which the general public doesn't remember)?!!! Hughes and Coverdale were only in the band THREE years, whereas Morse and Airey have been there in double digits, including a #1 album. Not sure MKIII ever achieved a #1 album for Purple. Oy vey #2.

That's embarrassing...but I think Steve and Don realize the silliness that is...the RaRHoF. emoticon

Mistreated,Burn,Stormbringer,SOF,Sail Away,MJTYL are all very well known rock classics. How many Rock classic tracks have MK Morse come up with in their over 20 years? The general public are not familiar with anything DP have done other than perhaps Smoke? but the general rock public know MK3 material more than MK Morse I would bet.

Agreed with LITB
Btw, quantity in years counting over quality in output is ridicilous.

Within heavy rock audiences MK 3 is widely appraised.
More than MK 7 or 8, I dare to say.

I dont know much about sales of albums, digits et all.
Is it really so that BURN sold less than any MK morse album?
And even then, are todays quantities not comparabale to the old days.

They are all so stuck on people downlaoding stuff.
I see free downloads as a promotion tool or a teaser.

In the past I ogften bought albums(In the non downloadperiod)and was stuck with an album I felt cheated upon afterwards because it was dissappointing.

Now, if I really like an album, I buy it even if I have a free download.

 - Steve Morse is the man who was the reason why I became fan of this band when I "discovered" them....

I think you really dont like oldschool guitarplayers but prefer the so called modern approach players.

Disgusted by Uli Jon Roth?!
Amazing.
He would have fitted in way much better

Both Roth and vai probably have an ego, that is what Morse is devoid of and thats why Gillan is so happy with him. emoticon

Btw, who do you think in Black Sabbath was generic singer?

Tony Martin?!

Black Sabbath issue were 2nd half 80s and 90s (Cross Purposes / Forbidden era).... that band actually lost identity completely. I have tendency to say Tony Iommi = Black Sabbath, but I have to say that after Born Again, he completely lost plot and direction. Seventh Star - fine, originaly meant as Iommi solo album, but next? I like Headless Cross, but the rest? Even Geezer said that it had NOTHING to do with Black Sabbath (I actually accept only three periods of Sabbath, Ozzy´s one, RJD´s one, and IG´s as brief exotic and exciting one) . You simply cannot build indentify for band when you are making musician changes each year, in middle of the tour and audience dont know who is going to be in band when they buy tickets for the show... Actually - I didnt like when Roger Glover was "replaced" by Nick Fyffe for those Deep Purple shows....it was very unfair to the audience - they should have released some sort of statement about it. As I wrote previously - band is unity.

To me Born Again was a weak standout, Gillan or not.

Lord said CTTB wasnt a real DP album, they all say so many things I do not really agree upon.

Both CTTB and Cross purposses are to me albums that outrank easily all the Morse era stuff.

Forbidden was not very good.

Tyr and Headless Cross are great but somehow I prefer them with Rondinelli. emoticon

Tony Martin outranks Ozzy easily, espescially because Ozzy often is apathetic excuse for a singer.

The Eternal Idol and 7th Star are favouurites of mine as well.

I agree Iommi is sabbath, and not Ozzy.

To me the now current BS line up is dissapointing.
That is not only Ozzy's fault , the material is not what I like.
And although I prefer Dio over Ozzy Dehumaiser and the Heaven and Hell material does not do it for me.

I like warmth, soul and not just dark, depressive moody, mid tempo songs.

Thats why I Like face the truth and 7th star : GLENN HUGHES without the overexcessive screaming.

Agreed 100%, Gillan wants a follower, not an axeman.

Burn was No. 1 in the same countries as No What...

Ozzy is not good singer, that´s true but his voice is extremely unique and Ozzy became more like outstanding character than frontman and singer of Black Sabbath..... Mick Jagger is not outstanding singer, but his character is unique too.

Its not I dont like the Black Sabbath MK 1 music.
On the contrary, I have all those disc and also the Reunion live disc.

Its like you say : it has more to do with show than music when you experience Ozzy.

Being a spoiled DP and Rainbow fan I always stand critical when it comes to leadsingers.
