Personally I think it's more of a slight on Nick Simper. If you're going to induct a line-up, induct all members.

I thought that had been corrected. Is he still omitted from the list?

Absolutely RIDICULOUS statement from Gillan ,Morse and Airey have NOTHING to do with DPs induction ,they know it,Gillan knows it, WE ALL know it .

"Nothing" but the fact they ARE Deep Purple.... and Deep Purple are supposed to be inducted and perform there. So they have nothing and everything to do with it at the same time. emoticon

Can the band not take the example of Heart in 2013? The original members played Crazy On You, then the current line-up played Barracuda with Jerry Cantrell, Chris Cornell and Mike McCready.

Note - the inducted members of Heart were Michael DeRosier, Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen, Howard Leese, Ann Wilson, and Nancy Wilson (the original members)

i can't deny that the current line up are "called" Deep Purple, the fact remains though that The current lineup have NOTHING to do with the reasons for DPs induction and have made no impact whatsoever on the rock world.I have asked you this before and you have always declined to answer? but name the legendary rock stars who quote MK Morse as an influence??
To be honest I would have no problem with the current line up performing at the induction, it would be no different to The Foo Fighters performing with Gillan ,Glover and Paice guesting emoticon

Why should there be a problem with the current line-up performing at the induction? It isn't any different than the old Motown and Doo Wop bands that still tour and play on some of the specials you see on PBS and other channels. They don't have all, or even any, of their original members. Airey and Morse shouldn't have any qualms about jamming at the induction. I think that they can figure out that they are just carrying on the the tradition that Ritchie and Jon started. Gillan needs to chill a bit on this.

No, the different marks simply have a different relevance depending the people you ask. For me Mk II is just slightly more relevant than Mk VIII, I prefer to listen to Mk IV, MK III or MK I. But for me it is also ok that you like MK II and ptr likes MK VIII.

Just like we all know that Sean Connery is James Bond, but Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton are also ok ;-)

Re: Gillan on Hall of Fame performance

I have mixed to negative views on this whole business.

On the one hand, it's kind of nice for my favourite band to be recognised for their achievements and contribution to rock but quite frankly, it's way too late.

Using Wikipedia as a source, I see that artistes are inducted 25 years after their first recordings. So quite frankly, why the hell wasn't Purple inducted in the 90's - to use the American vernacular - "it was a lay up!"....

And if I was on the HOF committee, I would have selected Mk 1 to Mk 4 or classic Mk2 if they really wanted to narrow it down.

But here we are in 2016 and it is totally irrelevant because JL is no longer with us. I don't think any of Purple should turn up as the whole business is an insult. I love the fact that The Sex Pistols who were inducted in 2006, refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum a p_ss stain.....

Now let's not get our knickers in a twist over this bs and move on to more important stuff like "Blackmore v Morse?" and " will the new album be a disappointment?" and "what's your fantasy set list?"

BTW, listening to a Purple playlist and The Truth Hurts is currently playing - don't know what that means but thank God that The Squealy One wasn't part of this thing!.....
