Re: Whitesnake to headline Ramblin' Man Fair

I went. For me they did a set that didn't stretch DC vocally. Which after the mullering of burn at wembley I was quite glad about.
It was a bit weird in that he didn't interact with the crowd to much. No sing along during ain't no love in the heart of the city.
He did mention about how weird it was to call the crowd ramblers or how strange it was to say evening maidstone.
The usual extended solos meant the opportunity for a loo break, but I'm not quite at the age where I need to go 3 times so regularly YET!
For me DC could get away with doing shows like this for a few more years.

As a side note just want to say what a terrific festival it was on the whole.
The weather obviously helped. But what a stunning location with a beautiful lake.
The line up was top notch. Even when there was bands I had no interest in such as ginger or terrorvision it gave me the opportunity to check out the likes of king king and whiskey myers.
Got to meet black Stone cherry Uriah heep and dead daisies in the signing tent.
The crowd was good natured respecting people's space.
Got very close to the stage without being crushed so you could watch the stage instead of the screens.
Band wise thin Lizzy stole Saturday for me whilst purely for their antics airbourne stole Sunday.
As a 50 year ive got to say its the best festival I've have ever been to.
I know there were moans about people getting in late, but if you can't be bothered to find the wrist band exchange first then join the queue, then I don't think you have reason to complain.
I hope they get as good a line up next year and it survives longer than high voltage did.

I nearly went but the setlist wasn't interesting enough. I see Bernie was back stage...did he play?

I can confirm he didn't play. Maybe if DC had been in a better mood it may have happened. Would have made the show memorable other than just another whitesnake gig.

Re: Whitesnake to headline Ramblin' Man Fair

There are mixed comments about the gig on Facebook ranging from one long-term fan saying this was the end for him (with WS) as DC 'looked and sounded knackered', whereas someone else said it was the best WS gig they'd been to in 10 years.

A lack of banter with the crowd doesn't sound like the normal DC however- particularly with this having been billed as possibly the last UK gig by WS. Very strange. He maybe bumped into Dave Ling backstage before the gig- that might explain his mood.....

After the first Oslo show DC posted the following:

So there may have been some health issues.

Re:

There are videos on you tube from the event such as
Still of the Night and Bad Boys

No hint on Doug's twitter or facebook whether he and DC bumped into each other; they were both playing on the Saturday.
