Re: How many DP albums did RB really like

I don't think RB is a real big fan of Stormbridger. He bad mouthed that album from the moment it was released and there were a couple of songs where he didn't get the writing credit. Though, ironically, Soldier of Fortune get played live on BN tours all the time.

I believe this is very true. Of course he likes it. Also comments are often blown out of any context. On Clapton, Ritchie has been cited both that "Clapton cannot play" (a statement Gillan is happy reminding the world of) and, that Clapton was an influental master RB learned a lot from and have the greatest respect for. I know what I believe.

Why on earth are we saying its a bad thing for him to change his mind on what he thinks about his own work? Its probably what mood he was in at the time, i know my opinions of stuff change when im pissed off!

Re: How many DP albums did RB really like

I think it may possibly be easier to be certain of the albums he most disliked.

1) Stormbringer.....Alluding to an earlier post, not only did he dislike it upon release but as it was being recorded as virtually for the first time some of his ideas were rejected (Black Sheep of The Family & Still I'm Sad which he kept under his hat emoticon for his "solo" LP which then of course became Rainbow).

2) Who Do We Think............Friction between him and Gillan was at it's peak, he disliked Gillan's multi-tracked vocals intensely (that's why Painted Horse never made the album)& spent as little amount of time as possible with the rest of the band in the studio. He publicly tore WFT to shreds. Also perhaps to confirm this even more, how many tracks off this album were toured?

3) HOBL.....Same as above with his relationship with Gillan as fractious as ever & so few tracks from the album performed live. Last album before splitting (yet) again.
