Bootleg info about Rainbow and Tommy Bolin required

As various bootleg info sources of the past are no longer existing oder available for the public I'd like to ask the Gurus Of Wisdom on this board: Where can I get comprehensive infos about which bootleg recordings of Rainbow and Tommy Bolin are existing?

About Rainbow I'm especially into the Dio era. Afaik there are various recordings existing (soundboard or audience), from the live shows as well as from recording sessions, album outtakes, rehearsals and so on. Of course I could work through the Rainbow Fanclan bootleg listing, but I find it quite exhausting to check ten or fifteen different bootleg titles for the same recording. Is there a list of what recordings are existing, to be found somewhere over the rainbow or whereever?

About Tommy Bolin I'm simply interested in everything he did. His solo work, DP, Zephyr, James Gang, Energy, sessions and so on. I know the Tommy Bolin Archives catalogue and have most of the titles, but I have only very vague knowledge about which other shows have been recorded (soundboard, audience, however) and are circulating.

Every info about this is truly appreciated.

I'm sorry Witchy, I can't help you as I don't know of all the stuff that has entered the market. Mind you, I'm under the impression professional bootleg CDs are still produced, especially of older bands! Roy's Rainbow book had a formidable crack at it, but is now out of date. The most important addition to the 'catalogue' are Tarantura's hi-end products (including Mr. Peach recordings of *all* Japanese shows of the Rising tour!). Many shows have been issued by several labels, and these are sometimes from newly discovered sources. Some are factory CDs runs, some 'professionally' produced CD-Rs.

The most complete listing I have seen is at Rainbow Fanclan site. Or at least it has been updated to include the Tarantura editions of the 2010s. They don't say anything about quality etc, so maybe they haven't heard all of them either. But only looking at the overwhelming number of releases from the Rising tour - meaning just how many different versions there are of each show - gives you an idea just how difficult it is to keep up with this stuff. Of course, most hardcore fans are happy to get the best source of every show, not listen to many recordings of a show.

I have not heard of 'new' finds of studio stuff. I don't think they a) did much extra b) bothered to save tracks they didn't use. Not unlike nowdays when it's digital and easy to storage, and you can release 5 different editions of an album, with out-takes and making-of documentaries. Back then, it was a matter of getting the album out.

As for Tommy Bolin, I would hazard a guess that releases containing his stuff is easier as there must be experts who focus only on him.

I didn't recieve a PM from you. And there's space enough in my PM box, so a full PM box cannot be the reason ...

I would recommend the Fever-Box (15 CDs).

Not easy to find. You can get it here:
http://www.discjapan.com/shop/artists-p-t/tommy-bolin-fever-box-15cd-box-set-nightlife-n-56-070/

I ordered a lot from him. This is a serious seller.
