Re: Zephyr Deluxe

I downloaded it yesterday. Surprisingly, the download is available before the CD here in the UK. Haven't had time to play it yet though!

Re: Zephyr Deluxe

Have finally had the chance to listen to the whole thing. First thing- I should mention that the 2 Zephyr albums are the only 2 albums of Tommy's I don't have, other than the tracks on 'The Ultimate' Geffen compilation. Therefore, the original album itself was an interesting listen. Tommy's playing is ok on this, but he definately wasn't the finished article at that stage. It's often a difficult listen primarily because Candy's vocals are way over the top.

Of the unreleased material, the tracks from 1973 are by far the best as Tommy's playing is superb on these. The audio quality is not the best- probably best likened to a decent bootleg but you can certainly make out everything Tommy is playing clearly enough. There is an incredible fluidity and freedom to his playing on the 1973 live tracks that, in many ways, is superior to much of his playing in 75-76, by which time the lifestyle had started to get on top of him. Therefore, on the whole I'm glad I bought this- at £[sign in to see URL] for the download, it's well worth the value.
