Re: House of Pain=Management and other fine Gillan lyrics...

So they say,but I have a few problems with this.
I'm no songwriter but the main riff sounds a bit profound
and the guitar intro into the main riff is just a copy
of Steve Morses Take It Off The Topp.

How is it that MB wrote that part?
how is it that MB wrote everyone elses parts incl,
Steves solo and Gillans harminaca part at the end
Gillan say's MB wrote the song accept for a few words and the title which Gillan came up with.

I don't get it. emoticon

If it is a MB song I think he should replace TSO. Maybe MB told TSO to come up with a riff similiar to the one you speak of. It's taken an outsider to get DP headed in the right direction. I think their minds were too clouded by their enthusiasm over not being under the Wizards rule. It's like the slaves in Stargazer/Light In The Black. They were confused and don't know their way home after the Wizard dies, only that they are headed home.

Hmmm
interesting point,but I still don't get it.
Take away all the dynamics and you don't have much of a song there, the whole thing sounds a bit cut and pasted
by MB himself, therefore the writing credit goes to him as a gesture IMHO.
It's not so much what they do it's how they do it,does MB really account for that?
I think not, just take a listen to Walk On,(the what)
he meant well there in structure but they showed him how it was done
by putting Purple power into it,(the how)
otherwise it's nothing more than an old idea,MB didn't have to look any further than one of his old influences Isaac Hayes for inspiration,
and Purple showed him what could be done with it.

It sounds more like a ploy to become better placed
if anything.
Music is it's own reward, they aren't searching for the lost
Grammy.....or are they? emoticon

What does "House of Pain" says about the management?

I rememeber a Van Halen tune also called "House of Pain" from their "1984" studio album.

Well, thank god it wasnt Theatre of Pain, or DP would be wearing make-up, womens clothes, and prancing around like a bunch of fags! emoticon

Wasn't there a House Of Pain by a band in the late 80's called Kix?
