Pictures of Innocence is probably one of the best use of lyrics I have heard in a Deep Purple song. As for Doing It Tonight; a 70s hard rock band making a song called Doing It Tonight, it is plainly obvious what that is about.

Personal opinion; I like Bananas as an album but the lyrics are AWFUL. A couple of cuts aside (such as Pictures Of Innocence) the rest of the stuff is so trite and cliched it defies belief, I really expected much better from a word-bending master such as Ian... House Of Pain really epitomises how NOT to write lyrics for a rock song, there's more cliches in that one than The Darkness' recent album.

Banans does not include my favorite lyrics in the lot,
but somehow it still works for me,exactly what it is
I haven't figured out yet.
Maybe it's the way Gillan attempts to blend with some of Morses easy listening approach to some of the songs,
I find him to posess great tonal dynamics.

In fact, I'm not that impressed with HOF lyrics...I love simplicity, but this is sort of way too simple, cliche and, if it's struck against managenemt, not direct enough.
Doing it Tonight has the most amusing lyrics ever by DP, I think..."let me tell you bout this cherry/I never got a single bite/therefore I imagine we'll be doing it tonight."
Marvelous 'n' kinky! 
My other favs are lyrics on Walk On, Pics of Innocence and I've Got Your Number.

I've Got Your Number is decent cut for sure but I am damned if I can read two lines of those lyrics without cracking up at how cheesy they are, did Gillan write this one over a coffee break?!
