Was this release mentioned on JonLord.org? I wish Jon's website was more informative in regards to archive releases.

Not mentioned. In general they do not feature much about the Artwoods.

I learned about it researching about Graham Bond gigs at the Klooks Kleek.

Came on to post this very link and you beat me to it.

My copy turned up today within two days of ordering.

Three sessions from 65 and 66 not on the recent box set.

Sound as good as you could reasonably expect.

Booklet is excellent. Loads of details, cuttings and reminiscing from Derek Griffiths.

Any Lordy fan should grab a copy!

I ordered from Germany and got it very fast too. With the vinyl you get a re-arranged booklet with the pics in a bigger size.

Re: Rare Artwoods

I first got into Purple in the late 70s. I would read about the pre-Purple bands but it was impossible to hear any of the music.

Only got to hear the Artwoods when 100 Oxford Street came out on vinyl. Loved it. Loved Lordy’s playing. Loved the style and the quality of the whole band.

Later on I picked up a Purple bootleg CD called Odd Ditties that had one Artwoods Beeb session. Wow!

For me, BBC sessions are halfway between live and studio - best of both worlds. The cheesy DJ intros just add to the mood.

Really enjoy the Purple BBC sessions and the Episode Six ones.

Steady Gettin It included the session off my Odd Ditties and found some more.

This CD (also available on vinyl) finds even more. It is brilliant that Nigel Lees has dug this stuff out and made it available on an official release.

What with the Klooks Kleek release and Steady Gettin It, Artwoods fans are now well served.

I still would love to see even more radio sessions and live material released though.

Jon G, What's the Klooks Kleek set like? Better than the live set in "Steady Gettin' It"?

You can see the set (and the youtube link) in the previous page of this thread.

One big difference is that the KK set was recorded very early in the Artwoods existence so it's mostly, if not all, covers.

Artwoods fans are really well served now. But does anybody know, if there any surviving tapes from Red Bluud's Bluesicians?

Re: Rare Artwoods

I had provided the majority of the recordings on this release. I had sent everything to the band members and families and Derek released them. There are a number of other radio shows, acetates etc not included on this set. Some of which I will not send to members as I got them on the condition not to copy.

This of course includes the Polish radio station recording. There is also one from Denmark which I am trying to find. Also Saturday Swings from December 19, 1964 with Sandra Brown. Finally the 100 Club recording that someone must have. I kn9w it was made as I was there when it was recorded. Maybe one day.
