Re: Silver Tongue
You say? I've mixed up then. But when thinking about it, of course he wouldn't mind CTTB for any obvious reason

Re: Silver Tongue
It's a very good album, just not worthy of the Purple name
in the humble opinion of many who have stated so in these forums and no doubt
everywhere else.

Re: Silver Tongue
100% correcto GMS. CTTB is a nice record, but doesn't sound like a DP album IMHO.

Re: Silver Tongue
Guess I'm in the minority then since for me CTTB pretty much pisses on every album the band has done post reunion.

That is an interesting opinion however I disagree, in my opinion Perfect Strangers, The Battle Rages On, Purpendicular, Abandon and Bananas are more enjoyable then Come Taste The Band, however CTTB is a great album and it beats the House Of Blue Light and Slaves and Masters

Re: Silver Tongue
CTTB is better than Stormbringer and Burn, as well as Slaves and Masters. IMHO it falls well behind PS, HOBL, TBRO, _l_, /-\, and )))s.

Re: Silver Tongue
I remember when I took a job at the north coast for a year,it was back in '92,
when Things were in a transition to Gillan
returning and I didn't have any contact with much of what was going on with the band.
I took some Purple stuff that I could risk losing if something happened and I wound up losing my luggage.
Most of it was Rainbow,Gillan, and some
mk3 and 4.
This gave me a chance to enjoy CTTB
for once, cause of the serenity of the outdoors while working on a boat.
The tape I played the most that year was CTTB,it grew on me very well during that time and it dominated the tape player.
It's an album that you have to let swim or it will sink.
It deserves much more appreciation than it gets.

I don't understand that opinion. To me it sounds like classic purple, more typical purple than e.g Soldier Of Fortune.
This Time Around even remind me of mk I in an odd way. It ain't all that far from Anthem, I'd say.

Re: Silver Tongue
I guess what I mostly mean is it was such a departure from what they were all about.
Too much fusion and not enough heavy rock.
TTA is awesome though.

Re: Silver Tongue
Still This Time Around is not a purple song. It´s a duet of Lord and Hughes!
