It seemed odd to me too at first but it almost seems like an editing issue and not Ian's...I've never heard Paicey hiccup like that.

Just listened again and I think it was Paicey...the timing of the fill was off as I heard a pause right before and right after it.

Me too. It was Paicey. Nothing else is cut or edited, so its got to be him. No crisis or anything. He just would not do things like that just 5-10 years ago.

Agreed. He hits very gently these days. As you say, just let the stick fall down almost. And more backbeat than ever. Takes the drive away. To me it sounds like Paice is the follower and that Morse/ Airey drives the band and the sound. And that makes the band sound less rock 'n roll, so to speak.
