Rainbow 1977 Munich DVD remastered

Unfortunately the former releases (DVD and CD) were in mono. I hope they'll be released with a proper stereo sound now. But this would assume to make a remix and not a remaster.

Let's see how it sounds (pun not intended), hopefully the sound's improved to justify the re-release!

Here's another topic on this release, especially about extras:

And this new release is mono again. What a shame!

Before complaining about mono releases I'd like to know where there actually is a stereo recording existing. It was recorded for TV in 1977, and in those days no TV station was broadcasting in stereo - in Germany at least.

This is not the point. In Germany Stereo TV was introduced in the summer of 1981 by ZDF. It was the first european TV station which broadcast in stereo. But some stereo DVDs were released with even older material, for instance Police Rockpalast 1980.

The Police gig was aired live on the radio (I am referring to the show in Essen, not Hamburg from an earlier Rockpalast date) - Rainbow´s gig not. That may made the difference.

Well, the Rainbow Munich show may have been recorded in stereo. I don't know. Therefore my question.

Just got the new dvd, my fourth video version of this show. I bought it just for the 12 minutes of Houston 1976. The main Munich footage is, to my ears, the same as before; the Texas footage is sadly still with voices over the music (damn, you can easily find it without on youtube...) but still it's so exciting to see footage of them playing Stargazer and Light in the black!
The package has the same previous booklet but lacks the replica of the 1977 tour that was included in the first edition, so a good excuse to keep both.
