DP packaging porn

For the hardcore afficionados out there, here's a link to a beautiful web site with high-rez scans and detailed info on all Japanese "Mini LP" CD:s ever released - including a number of DP ones.

I have a few of these Japanese beauties, and can attest to their awesome quality in all respects. If only the major labels could have continued to offer a great consumer experience like this after the switch from vinyl to CD... well, at least some people know how to do it:

Yeah, great stuff. I too have some of them, the 1990s editions.

Live in London
Stormbringer
Made in Europe

The lyric sheets are excellent, they have even transcripted the live album song introductions!

I recall having an early Japanese version of Powerhouse (which I foolishly sold) in early 1990s, but that was a jewelcase edition. Speaking of Powerhouse, I've always preferred the UK sleeve to the other design. The Japanese CD I had was with the UK sleeve.

The Japanese really step it up. Of course you pay a few bucks more for it, but I have Japanese pressings of;

24 Karat Purple (signed by RG)

New, Live & Rare (w/ standard & tablature notation for "I'm Alone" in the booklet)

TBRO (w/3d slipcase, discography booklet {up to that point} and RB guitar pick)

CHoHW (had the extra songs my US pressing didn't have)

Purpendicular (w/bonus track)

Butterfly Ball & Wizards Convention (2cd set includes 2 extra tracks; Little Chalk Blue and RG audio interview as well as 2 deluxe booklets)

I used to have the Japanese pressing of Live In London (had standard & tablature notation of "LDSD" in booklet as well as sticker of the cover) but sold it when the double disc edition came out.
