Re: I want a double album!!!
Purple do have a double album, you know. Its called Made in Japan.
Ok, ok, I know that's a live one, but I rate it as at least the equal of any of the examples listed here, in terms of its importance and significance in the rock pantheon. I would go so far as to say that the band may well have faded into insignificance (or at best, a happy memory for a few devoted wrinklies) if not for that sensational record
Those that could do it went out and played. Some others went in for overblown studio self indulgence.

Randys have you got Bananas yet? This one's still getting played a lot by me, I'll begin worrying about them doing a new one when I finish enjoying their current album!
NO!!!
But a relative from abroad promise to get me one, if he does NOT able to, then maybe I'll have it in 2005, along with the new double album. I'll enjoy three new album in 2005, that's more exciting.
BTW, the reason why "Bananas" is not yet here is because it's NOT on a major label, I'm very sure lots of fans from Asia does not have it yet.

Re: I want a double album!!!
I'd just like to add that during the 1970s classic years, many DEEP PURPLE albums does "NOT" have any fillers.
1. Deep Purple
2. In Rock
3. Fireball
4. Machine Head
5. WDWTWA
6. Burn
7. Come Taste The Band
8. Perfect Strangers
9. Purpendicular
In my very humble opinion these albums does NOT have any fillers, I enjoy listening to the whole albums, although there are standout tracks, some tracks are better than others, does not mean they are fillers.
If DEEP PURPLE were really inspired then, there will almost be NO fillers, the band is made up of firstrate musicians and they can create firstclass hard rock music. I believe they can create a double disc containing about 140 minutes of music and NOT a single filler, it's possible as long as they are NOT tired from a marathon tour.

Wasn't Fireball originally intended to be a double?
I know that in the Charleworth bio it's written that there were discussions regarding "Stormbringer" being released as a double lp. Reportedly, this idea was scotched by Blackmore (not surprisingly, in light of subsequent events).

Re: I want a double album!!!
Isn't Stormbringer one of their shortest albums?
Or is it a double album if we consider that Blackers put all his ideas into RB's Rainbow

Re: I want a double album!!!
A double album only makes sense if the band has something worthwhile to say in all that time. Frankly I'd be surprised if they had that much new QUALITY material to record. I think we would end up with a few too many fillers, I'd rather that they cut the fillers, and give us one single cd full of great stuff. Too much filler dilutes the merchandise, and lowers the quality of the whole thing.
So, I voted single cd.

One studio album per year is enough IMO.

Re: I want a double album!!!
If they do a double would you want to see a theme to it such as Tommy or Quadrophenia?

Every "great" band have double albums:
THE BEATLES - White Album
THE ROLLING STONES - Exile On Main Street
THE WHO - Tommy & Quadrophenia
LED ZEPPELIN - Physical Graffiti
PINK FLOYD - The Wall
YES - Tales From Topographic Oceans
FLEETWOOD MAC - Tusk
JIMI HENDRIX - Electric Ladyland
What are the timings of those double albums? I bet most of them will fit on one CD.
Made in Japan was a double and I've got that on one CD.
A double CD seems unnecessary, except for live albums.

Re: I want a double album!!!
Most of them are released on two CDs though. The timings are usually about some 80 minutes.
The only album of those I know that was released on one CD was Electric Ladyland.
