America is where the (purple) $$$ at
Well, they dropped the ball...again.
Failing to get the album noticed.
We expected that.
I really think Bananas could have been beautifully exploited!...some very good singles availible...'Never a Word' would be great on some movie soundtrack! 'HOP' is a solid pick as a single...
But NO ONE KNOWS!
Now we speak of an American tour....
How is Purple going to package it??
With these oldies/hits bands, it's like shoving 20 clowns into a Pinto!
DP has no new foundation set with an American Banana.
I believe it was Milan who posted a very nice setlist, with about 4 Banana tunes...by the time the tour comes to the U.S., I expect 2 and no new gound covered....
Even Blackmore and SPV make videos, including at least 1 on their new releases....
Touring is where the $$$ are at for a group.
Certainly Purple know they have a guaranteed paycheck when coming to America.
Guys(Purple)-
Dont sell yourselves short and do some Mickey Mouse, oldies hits/bands package tour...(with you as openers!).
Man...mix it up and kick some ass!
ANNOUNCE YOUR ARRIVAL!!!!!
Thames and Sanctuary-GET ON WITH IT, ALREADY!
--- If it's not Purple, it sucks....

They might make a bit of money in America but the smaller markets are more enthusiastic and lucrative, I think it was FLAHC that said the small markets add up big time.
And don't you usually complain how dire the American "classic rock" market is?.

Re: America is where the (purple) $$$ at
I'm a big complainer, either way.
American radio sucks!
American music, for the most part, sucks!
Damn, for once, I want to be at work...and a new Purple song comes on the radio!
Or, I'm sitting at home veg-ing in front of the tube and a Purple video comes on!
I just want Purple's work to be appreciated, but thats an individual thing.
I cant compete with Linkin Park.

ponytrekker, I know how you feel dude, but I already given that up coz, it won't changed.
The situation will only change when the band CHANGES it's management people.
It's so nice in the country.

Re: America is where the (purple) $$$ at
Pony my friend
I was reading your post and I had something to say and then
I scrolled down one post and got to Milan,he seem's to have
takent the word's right off my fingertip's.
Is Purple not noticed? If they were to gain any more noteriety, nobody would kmow what to do with them anyway.
I'm sure they will go on gaining noteriety but they belong
to us and not to any of the particular youth of today accept the smart ones (Milan and the like)who actually can
respect good taste in music.
The U.S. market can have their crap that was positvely
turned for the worse by the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson
so long ago and it never has and never will recover.
What would people who normally support such garbage know what to make of Purple anyway.
Purple belong to their own brand of public as the biggest underground rock band in history.Nuff said.....accept for
you should wait for February to roll around before you
get so negetive. Oh that has already been said.
Well how bout this instead, once they get here they WILL
promote thing's for all their worth.
These day's the best strategy is to corner each market as you get to it,that way thing's stay as fresh as possible.
Take for instance Abandon tour 98 when they got to Australia by April the album was finally released there
so when the tour happened there was a HUGE buzz.
That's the proper way to do it,that tour was a major success in that and many other countries.
And Pony Trekker led the way.
