It's been six years and I can't stand the sound of the album. There are clearly some good songs, although a medicore stuff dominates imho, but the sound is awfully unprofessional. How can a band with such an experience agree on releasing an album that sounds like this? The strangest thing is that all of their solo albums sound so much better (check out Gillan's OETM or Steve's latest SMB release). I hope the album will get a proper release before the last member of the current line-up passes away.nondisclosed_email@example.com (SixtyNine)Wed, 20 Jul 2011 19:14:31 +0000 Re: First three beat last twohttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452849,from=rss#post452849https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452849,from=rss#post452849The first three albums are fresh and full of ideas, where Bananas and RotD are more of a routine business. I have to say, that for different reasons, I enjoy all of them. I recently gave RotD four or five spins (yes that much!), and if it wasn't for the-bad- production, I think this album would be awesome.nondisclosed_email@example.com (purpletemple)Fri, 15 Jul 2011 07:55:36 +0000 Re: First three beat last twohttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452640,from=rss#post452640https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452640,from=rss#post452640quote:doggone wrote: Shades, BOT, and the Third Album have stood the test of time better than Banana's and ROTD IMHO. MKI were an excellant band. Imho Mk I were a band with serious problems. There was no consensus about which musical direction to take. So it's not surprising that they turned into Mk II after a year and a half. On the other side, I think that their three albums are very interesting (despite these problems or even because of them), and I agree to you that I like them much more than the Mk VIII output. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Witchy Nightmare)Mon, 04 Jul 2011 10:05:55 +0000 Re: First three beat last twohttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452638,from=rss#post452638https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p452638,from=rss#post452638I certainly agree but should we give the last two 40 years and then think again? Plus, I think late 1960s rock will stand the test of time compared to the rock of 2000s anyway... Got to give the MK1 albums a spin one of these days.
