I misplaced my keys and my master tapes - Deluxe edition shenanigans

I was wondering how you all here feel about all these "Deluxe Editions" coming out. I have noticed that almost every story about them comes with the "the master tapes were not found so a remix was not possiable". I have purchased some of these and can not say I have been too impressed. I think it is just a safe way for the record companys to make bank. They have been crying about loosing money for a decade due to downloading and it is safe to go after a loyal fan base that may be more comfertable still purchaseing the CD format. Also they know that that same loyal fan base is hungry for better sounding versions of the albums they grew up loving. And what is up with this sloppy and careless way these masters are archived. Does any one here know how this worked in the 70's and 80's. Did the record company take ownership or the artist?
I think this is either a joke or they are waiting to get us just one more time on the same old product. I do believe that these reissues bith suspect bonus tracks are a last gasp from a dying industry. Tell me what you think and if you have purchased any of these weither they be Deep Purple or any other what you thought of the materal on these CD's.
The one out of the few I have purchased that I really liked was the Tommy Bolin "Teaser" Deluxe. It is close enough to the original that I love all the songs because they were familure but so different that I felt at times I was listning to an album I had never heard before.

Not many albums need a remix. I don't think classics should be messed with like that. Shame about Born Again though.

Well we know that Roger himself wanted to remix Perfect Strangers and was looking for the tapes himself. So if he couldn't find them it tells me that it is the reocord companies themselves that don't have their acts together and can catalog anything correctly. Such a shame.
