UGGHH-

I look forward to next years NFL, as thats probably the next time I post. This board has turned to rubbish.

As for the Rainbow Rising alternate mixes...cool stuff. Thanks to Nigel and Roy and all the others for giving us an outline of the day to day stuff.

Hhhmm, since you brought up the NFL and I'm kind of glad you did,I look forward to next season myself, when the skins make the playoffs for the first time in years due to winning atleast 10 games with the edition of Joe Gibbs' return and Mark Brunell and a couple of other fine players. emoticon

I too would like to thank those in this thread who's names have been mentioned for the intersting information provided of which I had little if not much care to know
before finding out here.
Time to persue the purchase of Roy's book this coming week and prepare for some great insight on a great period in the history of Blackmores career, not to mention the revolving tax write off door of musicians who passed through it. emoticon

http://www.shop.deep-purple.net/default.htm have it Larry - there's a hardback copy as well as the paperback.

You might want to try The Great Single Book Of Deep Purple, by Dirk Schultz, as well. Over 160 pages of Deep Purple singles.

Thanks Nigel, and thanks for the tip on the singles book,I completely forgot about that one and it's essential to me as singles are my main hobby in collecting, that book is sure to make me envious, imagine that 'eh.
I responded to you on this because it is a
very nice gesture from you and defines the constructive approach. emoticonI will be sure and use the link to purchase Roy's book,DP.net is where it's at for the goods as far as I'm concerned.

I'd like to fly in here UTTERLY off-topic! WHeee! Two questions:
1. have there ever been rumors (or realities) of any unreleased Dio-Rainbow tracks or B-sides? Or have we gotten all they did?
2. Nigel, any word on if the DPAS will Sonic Zoom any Mark IV releases?

Back to Rainbow Rising: is the remaster worth getting? That's three questions! Jim S.

Going by some of Ritchies comments in interviews, it doesn't sound like the Rainbow catologue is likely to recieve much attention anytime soon, hope he's wrong.

Here's part of an interview, note the question was asked by Mr. Roy Davis!

The Rainbow back catalogue was recently re-issued on CD, though sadly without bonus tracks. What are the possibilities of a series of releases rounding up any studio outtakes, taped rehearsals or live recordings? Roy Davis, Kidderminster

RB: "There probably are some tracks, but there's a conflict of interest here. The manager of Rainbow [Bruce Payne] has now become the manager of Deep Purple, and there's a lot of politics going on there - even now, believe it or not. I don't think they're likely to bring out anything that would benefit me. Those problems with the old Purple management were one of the reasons I left the band, it wasn't all to do with Ian Gillan, vocalist and long-time rival and myself."

- As I did'nt get any response from the RB camp regarding the biog, when I saw 'Classic Rock' were asking for contributions for a Q&A session with the man, thought i'd be cheeky and reprise a prime question I'd have asked for the book! emoticon
Generally there doesn't seem to be anything much from the Dio era sessions (confirmed by Jimmy Bain and RJD in various interviews and times over the years). The oft quoted ' Night People' was according to Cozy just a taped jam anyway, not a finished track.
To be honest, if there was we'd certainly have seen Cozy's tapes of the sessions out on bootleg some time ago!!
BOOS was rumoured to have thrown up some extra stuff intended as B-sides etc, but when I asked both JLT and Roger neither could recall much extra being taped.
