GILLAN FANS ONLY
id like to get a new thread up and running by picking out some og Ian's greatest songs from his solo career maybe one song each and why you like it,so here goes.
Higher and Higher from Gillan fans only record.
I love this song and never here anyone mention it,its got plenty of trademark lyrics and is catchy as hell.
This thread is for positive Gillan responses im tired of reading about his recent performances and want to celebrate his large back catalouge.
thanks

Re: GILLAN FANS ONLY
To mention a few favourites:
A Little Share of Plenty, of Cherkazoo is an excellent melodic rocker with amusing lyrics.
Restless, of Future Shock lives up its title. An immediate riff, plus catchy verse & chorus.
Music in My Head, Cherkazoo. I love to hear the man sing stuff like this. Brilliant vocal tone over a soft backing track.

Lyrics which were partly reused for Sugar Plum later on.
From the Gillan era, my favourites are On the Rocks, a true band performance, Bluesy Blue Sea, with Gillan being on the razor's edge for the whole song, and Gers' great guitar work, and finally I'd say Secret of the Dance for the sheer energy of it !!

Re: GILLAN FANS ONLY
There are many great songs in his solo catalogue. I simply can't choose my favourite but singing-wise it would be:
Born to kill
If I Sing Softly
Loving on borrowed time (both versions)
Slide (I know, a bit akward, but I really like that number)

Re: GILLAN FANS ONLY
No More Cane...
Gut Reaction
Dancing Nylon Shirt
Dirty Dog
No Good Luck
No Laughing...
...and a lot, A LOT, of others!
No matter what one think of Gillans motormouth of later years, the guy has produced his fair share of good ol' rock'n'roll. I just wish he would shut it between songs and tours!

Re: GILLAN FANS ONLY
I went through OETM yesterday while driving back home and there's some good singing too, The Sky is Falling for example and the title track. I also liked Gillan's singing on the Hoochie Coochie Men CD.

Re: GILLAN FANS ONLY
As a young boy of 7 my father whom worked at a Philadelphia FM radio station brought me home an Lp. I put it on and I was hooked. In Rock you may be thinking...No it was Jesus Christ Superstar and I played the hell out of it. This Lp laid the ground work for my future taste in music which is why I have to giveas my #1 Gillan song Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say. As the years progressed I found Deep Purple at 11 and stayed with them till their demise in 76. I followed Gillan's solo work after he left DP as well as I was a fan of his work away from DP. quite strange taste in music for a young boy when his friends were listning to Kiss and later Led Zeppelin. My friends just didn't get my devotion to the Deep Purple family I will always love the music from that time in my life.
1.Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say
2.M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction)
3.Born to Kill
4.Fighting Man
5.Bluesy Blue Sea
6.Demon Driver
7.No Laughing in Heaven
8.Vengence
9.No Easy Way
10.If You Believe Me
11.Men of War
12.Your Mother Was Right
13.Future Shock
14.Running, White Face, City Boy
15.Let It Slide
Top 15 because 10 just would not cut it
3.
