Of course the Stones have an endless song list witch I believe even when Taylor left made them clearly superior. I mean I am no fan of Ronnie Wood, but some of the songs that Jagger/Richards and Wyman came up with, (IF you listen to some of the interviews of Wyman he clearly indicates that he wrote MISS YOU not those other blokes and that is also why Taylor had had enough in 1972)like Mixed Emotions, and some of the songs on Voodoo Lounge were outstanding. The thing about the Stones is all those old hits, As Tears Go By, Under My Thumb, Paint It Black are just priceless. I think the Who would give the right ear lobe of Evander Holyfield to just have one or three of those songs added to their catalog.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Satch)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 21:48:11 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25591,from=rss#post25591https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25591,from=rss#post25591I don't care for the Stones after 72' I like most of the Who's work throughout and I've seen them both live three times and in concert there is no contest what so ever.I need not say witch one is better live, that's a no brainer if I ever heard one. I've seen the Extreme History show and several acting performances from Daltry. My favorite would have to be The Vicar starring Sam Elliot, speaking of SE he's from my ho,etown of Portland Or, along with several other movie stars including Tom Selleck.nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 21:33:20 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25590,from=rss#post25590https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25590,from=rss#post25590Like a lot of bands with extensive histories, it depends what era you're talking about, Larry. From around '75 or '76 'til just about the beginning of the 80s, the Stones bit the big green skanky weinie. The decade of the 70s belonged to the Who, as far as those two groups are concerned - speaking of theor musical quality only, of course. Not record sales or tickets sold or plays on the radio. Just whose albums of the era were better. By the way, have you seen Daltry's latest gig? He's hosting a show on either the History Channel or maybe it's one of the Discovery Channels - "Extreme History". Gotta make you wonder whose bright idea THAT was! But, I suppose he needed a gig 'til the Who's next "Farewell Tour"! But I digressed there for a minute...overall,it's a pretty tight race between the two - Stones or the Who. Perhaps a poll to let the voters decide the issue? nondisclosed_email@example.com (MrEd45)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 21:23:23 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25589,from=rss#post25589https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25589,from=rss#post25589And the Stones beat the who and we all know WHO is better. ___________________________________________________________ How about responding to my endless PM's Satch. nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 21:13:24 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25588,from=rss#post25588https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25588,from=rss#post25588All I can tell you is that The Who eclipsed Purple winning the title of Loudest Rock Band in the World. If this is really the loudest gig it´s one of the quietest records, though. But the performance sounds impressive. Sounds like one of the highlights of seventies purple and that means quite a lot! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 15:20:34 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25583,from=rss#post25583https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25583,from=rss#post25583Sometimes that´s the reason why bootleggers throw together tracks from various sources. Often recordings are incomplete so they include tracks with similar sound from other gigs as well. But the one you´ve got is definitly not the one in question.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 14:09:42 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25582,from=rss#post25582https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25582,from=rss#post25582I have that same article on a boot called "Unreasonnably loud" it is suppose to have been recorded in Germany in 1972(no exact date), but the boot also includes "Mumblin thing blues" and "Into the fire", which to my knowledge weren't played in 1972.It also features "Space Truckin" which couldn't have been recorded in 71.So probably two different concerts but the sound is the same!!!That's the weird thing about it! nondisclosed_email@example.com (purpletemple)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 14:03:16 +0000 Re: Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25581,from=rss#post25581https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25581,from=rss#post25581Hmmm, sounds reasonable. The story is that they had come back from an American tour of big venues and the road crew mistakenly set up the "big venue" PA in the theatre instead of the "small venue" PA they should have used. If this story is true, I think they would have noticed and corrected the mistake by the second night. (But I don't know for sure.)nondisclosed_email@example.com (David Meadows)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 13:47:23 +0000 Everything Louder Than Anything Else?https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25579,from=rss#post25579https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p25579,from=rss#post25579 Does anyone know when Deep Purple exactly performed that famous guinness record show(Nigel perhaps?)? I have a bootleg from the 30th of june when they performed at the Rainbow Theatre in 1972. But they also played there at the first of july. So do I have a boot from that loudest show or is it my luck again and it was at the 1st of july they broke the limits? Unfortunatly the guiness book entry doesn´t give any details.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Fri, 14 Nov 2003 13:36:43 +0000
