Re: RG's new album

I really enjoy the album! Good songwriting and a feelgood vibe. Organic and diverse.
I have listened a lot to Snapshot as well, and really enjoy that one. This one is a bit darker maybe, and since it has more singers contributing, its more diverse. Im not a big fan of the singer in Nazareth, nowadays he sounds too much like Brian Johnson in AC/DC to me:-) But Bramlett does avery fine job. Rog himself sings with nice feel.
I think I will give this record a spin quite often..

Bought it, but don't especially like it emoticon
There's that blend of irish meets reggae meets folk that doesn't appeal to me.
I was expecting something more daring.

I thought the album is pretty indulgent. A couple of the songs were nice but honestly the albums would benefit from better vocals.

Definitly. The best songs are those sung by Gillian and Dan McCafferty.

I just bought this and was surprised by how good it was.
Diverse, interesting and well produced.

Well it's definitely far better produced than any of the recent Purple albums. What a shame. Damned Bradford!

Re: RG's new album

I recently bought "If life was easy" and have been listening to it in the last couple of days. If it wasn't for the name on the cover I wouldn't find time for albums like this one but I love Roger and even though the cd is a bit indulgent I like appreciating his melodic sense on his songwriting and his producing skills.
Right now, I'm wondering:

If life was easy (Glover)+
Flying Colors (Morse)+
All out (Airey)+
One eye to Morocco (Gillan)+
Forever Deep (Paice)=
------------------------
Now What?!

There's definitely a bit of All Out in NW?!, but fewer Morocco and If Life Was Easy. A bit of Flying Colors in some solos, but again not that much. couldn't tell about the FD since I haven't heard it !

Yes. "All out" is probably the closest to ?! but I can hear One eye to Marocco in All the time in the world, Flying Colors in some melodic passages (like Weirdistan chorus) and Glover moments in Blood from a stone.
