Agreed... I don't think it would be that much of a happening

Umm, it is certainly for nostalgic reasons yes but also because I'm not real fan of the current band really and the style of playing they embrace. S
Some of the very best shows I ever saw (and I saw many) featured the classic lineup... it would be great (for me) to see them on stage again... not a media event for sure but great for anyone who remembers how great the real WS were...
It might just suit DC's voice a bit more as well...

Let's specualte a bit further; if the guests are Mardsen/ Lord. Will Reb or Doug leave the stage? I would guess no..
Point is, I dont think we would get a "classic sounding band" even if the guesta are from the classic line up.. It would be more like when Purple invites guest for Smoke.. You hear them in the intro jam, and maybe the solo. Other than that is business as usual..
But if it brings the good feeling just to see them there, it works great of course..!

Re: Special Guests at Sweden
I bet it's gonna be Bernie Marsden alone. Doug met him last year and was very happy with the guitar workshop they did. Plus it's Bernie who wrote "Here I Go Again" with David, so I guess it has to be him.

Re: Special Guests at Sweden
Yes, I don't think we will see Micky Moody appear on stage with DC any time soon. DC was asked recently on his website whether he had any contact with Micky and he confirmed not. I think Bernie is a distinct possibility which would be nice, but at the end of the day it could never sound like "classic" WS without Micky, Jon, and the ultra tight rhythm section of Paice and Murray.

Re: Special Guests at Sweden
Furthermore, the classic line-up wouldn't be able to sound like the classic line-up today. An important point, I think.
But it's interesting who it could be in addition to Marsden since it says guests. I can't picture Moody, neither Lord, so it's really strange... Still I think it's Marsden and Lord as those are the only 2 I can think of. Maybe Murray too.
Also they will have to wheel out a real Hammond organ for Lord as he needs the real deal rather than the Casio that has filled the keyboard role in WS for the past 25 years

They do say guest(s)?
Vai and Vandenburg? In which case Sweden can enjoy all by itself!

As far as I know the only previous members he has regular(ish) contact with is Marsden (a recent thing) by phone, Vandenburg (who visits him regularly) and sometimes Vai so it has to be from this lot surely.
Unless of course he's caught up with Sykes and simply hasn't mentioned it on his BBS.

Re: Special Guests at Sweden
Bernie Marsden confirmed onstage in Glasgow tonight that he will be guesting with Whitesnake at Sweden Rock. He was also teasing the crowd with the possibility of appearing on some of the UK WS gigs.
