I believe it's the original mix, (done at Rockfield Studios, Wales), which Ian was unhappy with, resulting in a remix at Ians own Kingsway studio for the final release.

It has been issued several times in the past, with titles such as "The Rockfield Mixes","The Rockfield Mixes Plus" etc.

It's a very good sounding disc actually, and a lot of people prefer this mix to the official one.

I don't know if I like it better, but the Rockfield mixes are much warmer and breathe life into the songs. It literally sounds like a completely different album. Easily the best IGB album, both song-wise and and production-wise.

Scarabus is my favorite of the first three, but Glory Road is my favorite IG solo album [sign in to see URL]'t get enough of that one.

I really like those 3 albums, esp. CAT. Ian loved them too, but needed to go back to rock because of financial reasons, as he said. Album and ticket sales lacked a bit. The rhythm section Nauseef/Gustafson was wonderful. I am glad to have attended a show in 1977.

Re: The first three IGB albums

I have all three. I didn't like his vocals so much after a few years of layoff. I think that he got better after a while, as you can hear in the live stuff at the end of IGB. 'Secret Of The Dance' and 'Bringing Joanna Back' and the like. I think it showed that his voice was ready for doing hard rock again.

I like some of the stuff off of 'CIT', but not 'Child In Time'. It just didn't work for me. 'My Baby Loves Me', 'Lay Me Down' were much better. I think that he started to hit his stride with 'Scarabus', which has some pretty good tracks. Nice stuff.
