You guys are wonderful...Now that it's clear that Blackers didn't "screw up" but "improvised" or if he screwed up he saved the day by making it look like an impro, CAN I KNOW HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION?????????????????
BOY!Why did I put in that sentence about the SOTW intro?!

I'm sorry but there is no way Blacker's accidently screws up the intro to SOTW. He is just messing around and having some fun with the crowd who were (already!) clapping along to the riff.

Fever... erm I don't know! emoticon But didn't he have hepatitis sometime around about then?

Yes, he had hepatitis. Once a morning he found in the corridor of a hotel on the tour then. A roadie that has seen him this morning said that Blackers was lost in tears and had over and over a yellow face and high fever..

In October of '71 Gillan was felled by hepatitis. In March of '72, Blackmore had his turn suffering from it

Whooaaa - Chill out purpletemple! emoticon There's no aggro here at all.

If my memory serves me right, Ritchie broke a string on the SoTW intro (or perhaps screwed up!) on 16/8/72 - hence the version on MiJ is from the night before! Hell, yeah, the ol' bugger is only human - IMHO I just think that from listening to what he did live (especially with MkIII) he quite enjoyed 'toying' with the audience and stretching out the intros to songs (or even during the songs: eg the break in Burn on Made In Europe).

Today I received the boot of Perks and Tit from another good poster here - RB's enthusiastic and committed playing on Burn is 'eccentric' to say the least. emoticon

He's as human as you and I are. And just as prone to making the odd mistake! emoticon

Bring the whip anyway!I've been bad and need to be punished.
If you're blond and have big titties you're welcome to punish me (I will accept brunettes and red-haired too but only with huge melons)
