I'm especially curious about Alaska, as I don't think I've ever heard of them going to Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Certainly not for an outdoor concert!! ================================================= Though, just imagine it now if they had: A previously unreleased recording of the band is uncovered by a historian: "DEEP PURPLE Live on Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park" Wow, no music whatsoever, but plenty of dialog, that tells a most unfortunate tale of woe: BLACKMORE: "Damn, I keep breaking strings, I wonder why?" LORD: "Well, Blackers, I'd hazard to guess we're about 18,000 feet above sealevel. Might have something to do with that." BLACKMORE: "Didn't ask for a weather report...just help tune me up. Give me an E." LORD: "Would gladly oblige, but I can't seem to get the Hammond started....The Hammond oil is gumming up the organ at minus 15 degrees." BLACKMORE: "No help that is to me, Jon! Why didn't you bring that stuff you used at the Grand Hotel?....Roger, help me out...key of E." GLOVER: "Can't feel my feet!" PAICE: "Not to worry Rog', we'll open with Highway Star. That'll warm ya' up." GLOVER: "NO!!! I mean Jon's damn Hammond is on me foot, and I can't feel a thing. Goin' numb...fast!" LORD: "With all due respect Roger, if you had been actually pushing the C3 the last 1/4 of a mile instead of just standing there, this would have never happened." GLOVER: "****!!@##*C3!" BLACKMORE: "Where is everyone? Where's the stadium, the people? What happened to all the folks that were supposed to be here to see me....errrrrr....I mean us?" GILLIAN: "We're alone here, with emptiness, eagles, and snow!" BLACKMORE-PAICE-GLOVER: "SHUT-UP!!" LORD: "Ian (Gillian), if I may serve to ease some of the tension, I believe what the others are trying to say is that your comments are not helping the situation any. Now let us all just carry on as best we can, and Ian, you start setting up those stage monitors by that grove of pine trees. Roger, when you're done feeling sorry for yourself, after all my Hammond is chopped, it's not THAT heavy, then you can place these mike stands over by that river." BLACKMORE: "Eyy Jon? And when you're done shooting your mouth off telling everyone else what to do, maybe you can grab a couple of my Marshall full stacks and put them over here by this grizzly bear....." PAICE-GLOVER-LORD-GILLIAN: "GRIZZLY BEAR!!!? Run for your life!" LORD: "Blackers! Quick! Get behind my Leslie 147. Maybe he won't see--[turning to Gillian]--ahh shit, too late. Well, he made a nice attempt, I'll give him that much." PAICE: "Ritchie, grab that large tree branch and hit him over the head with it." GLOVER: "Hey, that's not a branch, that's my bass, give that back!" GILLIAN: "Hey, check out that old guy with the white hair comin' this way. Is that Timothy Leary?" LORD: "Silly chap, that's not Timothy Leary, that's Marlin Perkins!" PERKINS: "Welcome to 'Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom', and today, we're in Denali National Park, home of some of the most dangerous bears in the world." BLACKMORE: "NO SHIT GENIUS! Pull him off of me." PERKINS: "I'll hold the camera, while this mysterious, mythical creature in black wrestles the bear!" PAICE: "Is this chap for real?" LORD: "I truthfully don't know, but at any rate, I don't see this fairing so well for Deep Purple. Ian, could you reach into my overnight bag, pull out my Rolodex, and look up Tommy Bolin's number for me? We may be employing the use of his services much sooner than I had previously thought." [recording goes blank, doesn't seem to be much else on it.]nondisclosed_email@example.com (B3Burner)Wed, 05 Nov 2003 20:27:14 +0000
