The Strangest Cover of a Purple song you have heard.
As well as being a Fan of music I also love Comedy, and My fave comedy shows are Chewinthefat (Scottish Banter At its Very best)and Bottom...
Bottom for those who have not heard of them ,are two of the blokes who were in The Young Ones...
Yawn yawn...Now my point.
On watching Bottom 3 live Eddie is in serious pain and starts to scream, then in the Background you hear Child In Time start to play, and he Screams along to this Gillan Style(not)very very funny stuff.
So the question is what is the strangest cover of a Deep Purple song you have heard?

Re: The Strangest Cover of a Purple song you have heard.
I recommend everyone to find "smoke on the water" from DREAD zeppelin. The riff is much different they play it with a ska rythm and "Elvis" is singing(at least he does sound like him).
I've alsom heard "Burn" in Japanese
The funniest DP covers I've heard though are CIT and Pictures of home from Malmsteen's "inspiration".Always a good laugh...

I must say I have not heard many bands that do cover Deep Purple, and we can be thankful for that. Just imagine the destruction of the priceless artifacts of Egypt.

Re: The Strangest Cover of a Purple song you have heard.
I saw Dread Zeppelin do that in concert, the funny thing was that when the song started
even though it doesn't have the riff,
I knew it was going to be SOTW,talk about strange.Must have been just a hunch or something.

Kula Shaker did a great version of hush, but the funniest cover from a deep purple-family song i think i Malmsteen's cover of Rainbow's 'Black Sheep of the family' in reggae version with shredsolo's

I turned on the radio one night a few weeks ago to hear some girl band doing a cover of Space truckin'..very odd...no idea who they were though.

If I have to hear one more band covering SOTW, I'm gonna be sick!
I quite like Neil Diamond's cover of Kentucky woman
